Some of my brick walls: PICKER, Bernhard, b. abt. 1829 in Prussia (most probably Westphalia); d. 28 December 1884; buried St. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Immigration date unknown. 2nd Marriage: Christina VOSS, b. December 1833 in Prussia (most probably Westphalia), on 11 January 1859 at St. Peter and Paul Church, St. Louis. Bernard PICKER's son by first marriage: Henry PICKER, b. Between 1846 - 1849 in Prussia. Bernard is not found in the 1850 Missouri Census. Major Brick Wall: NIXON, John T., b. abt. 1830 unknown; d. before June 1856, unknown Only reference I have to John T. NIXON is his marriage to Mary E. LANCASTER on 22 April 1849 at St. Patrick's Church in St. Louis. This information was found through the marriage records at City Hall. The records for St. Patrick's Church are not available before 1852 as they were destroyed in a fire. Therefore there is no hint to his parentage or place or origin. Son of John T. NIXON is Joseph Edward NIXON, b. 31 January 1851, in St. Louis. Wife Mary E. LANCASTER NIXON married two other times and outlived both husbands. John T. NIXON does not show up in death records. Family lore states he was a sailor and died near the Gulf of Mexico. John also does not show up in the 1840 or 1850 Missouri Census. His wife appears in the 1850 census living with her parents. ANY help finding information on my long lost John T. Nixon would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Jan Shingle Springs, CA

Ellen, Saw your post but you go back a bit further than I. My O'Brien data starts in 1855 with Oswin J. O'Brien's birth and then his marriage to Julia Steinback. Their son Jerome married into my WELLING family in 1923. If this ever connects with your family would be glad to send what I have. I too have McGrath relatives, but as you are aware the O'Brien and McGrath names are really quite common in this area. Dear Audrey, Have you tried to trace Larue's second wife's family? Dear Karel, Bob Buecher has transcribed/translated some of St. Marcus' records-has Heinrich BOHLING to Catherine Christiane BRAUN on 9 Feb 1864, record #824. He has an email address that you can use to contact him. Maybe there are other records that might help find their birthplace. http://genealogyinstlouis.accessgenealogy.com/Buecher2.htm Georgia KLDisponet@aol.com wrote: > POHLING, HENRY - Could be BOHLING. Hi, My ggrandfather Albert PIETSCHMANN came to St. Louis as a Lutheran School Teacher in 1868. He was born in Frankenhausen, Duchy of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt on 14 April 1818. He came to Buffalo, NY by way of the Ship Meta, Bremen to NY, landing on 29 May 1848. He married Wilhelmine Sievers in Buffalo, in 1850, and about 1859 went to the Lutheran Seminary in Fort Wayne to study for the teaching ministry. He then served as a parochial school teacher for churches in IL, IN, MO. He died 13 August 1891 and is buried in Western Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, St. Louis city. His son Bernhard Emil Otto PIETSCHMANN, my grandfather, was born in Buffalo, NY, 14 Jan 1856. He married Emma Margarethe Linhardt in St. Louis on 30 October 1892. He was co-owner of the Enterprise China and Glass Co. at 520 Franklin Avenue, St. Louis. He died 01 October 1937 and is buried at Our Redeemer Cemetery in Affton. Louis and Margarethe OTTO are my brick walls. I know they came from Bavaria and in the 1850 Census they are listed as living with their daughter Margarethe, her husband Johann Wolfgang Linhardt, and their baby Margarethe Louise Linhardt. Margarethe OTTO is shown as the baptismal sponsor for Margarethe Louise Linhardt, born 15 Oct 1849. Always willing to share information. LaVerne
