Because of the list being almost 1/2 missing, for the past 24 hours due to the AOL spam filter thing, you may want to repost any questions or other normal topics for the list that were posted in the past 24 hours. Welcome back everyone! Looks like the list is now working properly again. Laura
How can we tell if we are still bouncing?----Jim
Testing to see if AOL members are still bouncing. Laura
Hello everyone. I have an old business card that I found in my mom's picture box that I would like to get to the descendants of this person. I think it is from St. Louis as that is where mom spent most of her life off and on. It could also be from Ilinois. Anyway, The name on the businss card is J.E. Milla and he lived on Sarah St. If this sounds familiar, please let me know. Regards, Karen Husman Rodriguez

I have a book which lists about 80 members of the South St. Louis Lions's Club circa 1930. First there is a list of members by occupation. Then there is a section in which almost each member has a page showing the member's photo, business name. business address and in most cases the residence address. I will post the member's names in three groups: A-G, H-M, N-Z. If anyone is interested in receiving the information on these members I can (1) copy the info on the member for you (2) scan the photo page to you or (3) scan the page and mail it if you will send me a SASE. Happy New Year to all of you! Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about the problems we are having with some of the spam blocking software. Many of our list members have been unsubscribed from the list automatically by Rootsweb because the mail going to them has "bounced" (been returned) too many times. This creates a strain on the mail servers. If you use some type of spam blocking software please make sure to list MO-STLOUIS-METRO-L@rootsweb.com for those on the regular list and MO-STLOUIS-METRO-D@rootsweb.com for those on the digest list as acceptable mail to receive. If you do not do that, you may end up being removed from the list because of too many emails bouncing back to the servers. I am trying to let you know individually when I see this happening. You will get an email from me that will say something about bounces in the subject or that I am checking to see if you email works at all as we are also getting a high number of bounces that say the email is not valid. There is nothing I or RootsWeb can do about this. RootsWeb staff have contacted several ISP providers but you the clients of those ISP providers have more clout that we do. You do not need to contact your ISP provider until we see there is a problem and when we do, I will send you and individual email behind the scenes. Many of you have received one of these already. This past week it has gotten worse for many of the lists (ours has been pretty good so far compared to what we are hearing from others). Feel free to drop me line if you ever get unsubscribed by the server subscription robot. You can always resubscribe but if your mail is being rejected it doesn't help until the real problem is addressed. Spam blocking is something many of us do. Myself included. But we need to make sure that we are not blocking mail we want. Make sure to set your acceptable list to include this list and any others you are on. If you do miss mail, or want to see if you are missing mail, you can always check the archives at http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/MO-STLOUIS-METRO for those in date order Or to look up a topic from the past go to http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=MO-STLOUIS-METRO for the searchable archives. Thanks! Laura

For anyone who would like to get a glimpse of the activities that are going on here in St. Louis to celebrate the New Year (we usually have something called First Night) and to kick off the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair as well as the 200th anniversary of Lewis & Clark, go to www.ksdk.com This is a local television station that is the "official TV station" for this coverage. They have some video and some other info there that you might enjoy reading. I am kept in by a bum knee of I would be there too. It is being covered on TV as well. Happy and Healthy New Year to all. I was going to work tonight down there as a volunteer - all excited - had to bow out due to my recent heel surgery, so we're watching it on News Channel 5. Got my feet in my new foot spa...
