    1. Preserving a document
    2. George
    3. I have come across an old family document that is badly torn. I'd like some ideas on how best to restore and preserve it. Is there any type of tape that might be suitable for this kind of stuff perhaps? Thanks - George

    2. Hi Barb, Thanks for the church window transcriptions. Be sure and let the list know if you hear of any other Church tours that are being offered. Sounds like it was a wonderful tour. Mary

    3. Many thanks, Barb, for taking the time to write down the names of parishoners who donated windows, etc. to the parishes you toured. Was this a tour that was arranged through the archdiocese? Is there going to be another one? Again, thanks so much for thinking of the list while you were touring. Diane Shaw Hillsboro, MO

    3. Hi Diane, The tour was sponsored by the Ladies of Charity of St. Vincent dePaul Parish. It included lunch and they had buses take you to the churches. We were supposed to see five churches but our bus went to the wrong church at the wrong time and they wouldn't let us backtrack so we missed St. Wenceslaus. I saw the tour advertised in "The Review" the Catholic newspaper. My gggrandparents and my grandparents were both married at St. Mary of Victories so I was interested in seeing it. And if you have never been in St. Francis deSales, you should make an effort to go there. It is spectacular. If I ever see something like this advertised again, I will post it to the list. Sorry I wasn't thinking the last time. 1. Names from Church Windows
    2. Barbara Schroy
    3. About a month ago I went on a tour of some Catholic churches in south St. Louis. While there my sister and I wrote down the names on the church windows and on some of the pictures and statues. I thought that I would share them with the list in case any of the names ring a bell with any of you. I hope that it is a help to someone. I apologize in advance as I wrote these down quickly since we were on a tour and had limited time. In some cases I am having a bit of trouble reading my own writing so hope that I got them all right. 2. Charles Fuller, born July 1836, married Cecilia Delatea/Dehater. Benjamin Fuller, born September 1880, married Elizabeth Oheim. I have no other children of Charles, not to say there isn't any. Charles was born in Pennsylvania. And since Charles was so much older than Cecilia, it is a possibility that she was a second wife.

    1. Saint Louis Photographers
    2. I have come upon a wonderful collection of early photos from a family that lived in Saint Louis around the turn of the 20th century. A lot of them are professionally done. The genealogical data I have indicates that the children in question were born around 1880-1892, and these seem to bear that fact out. I have been to Dave Lossos' website and attempted to date them, but there are a lot of them that contain the name of GROSS only as a photographer. The site said that Cramer & Gross did business in the 1901 period, but these photos appear to be the same people over a longer stretch of time, all from Gross, Hammer, Setzer & Brothers, and Wilson. Can anybody help? Wendy Family names: FULLER, OHEIM

    1. Death Notices from the Fr. Dempsey Home-1909 thru 1917
    2. Diane
    3. Dennis Northcutt who is an Archivist for the Missouri Historical Society has transcribed quite a few records for the public. Recently, I ran across a transcription of notices of deaths that were published in the "Fr. Dempsey's Hotel Magazine" in the collections of the Missouri Historical Society Library. I assume that most of the deaths were of people who died at the hotel, but I can tell by reading the list that not all of them are. The deaths took place between 1909 and 1917. Most of the names on the list are Irish, so naturally I wanted to post them in the Irish in St. Louis list. I decided to post this in both places since some folks who are studying Irish surnames are not on the Irish list. Dennis has been a big help to everyone on the St. Louis list and I thank him for sending me a file of the death notices that he abstracted and for giving me permission to post it to the lists. The file is here: http://home.earthlink.net/~lilirish/deathnoticesFrDempseyHome.doc Diane Shaw Hillsboro, MO

    3. Hi Kathleen: This is a don't miss opportunity. Sounds like a great connection source for those who are interested in, "hanging meat on the bones" with historical references to complement their genealogy findings. 1. passenger arrival-roll call
    2. Joyce Curry
    3. Thank you Gary. I neglected to add information on arrival of my Currys, didn't want to make my message too long. James and Ellen Curry had to arrive between 1844 and 1846, going by birthdate of last Irish birth and that of first American birth. We checked passenger arrivals some years ago--maybe should try again, but no information, and we finally concluded that they may have come into this country by way of Canada. They lived in Middletown, Connecticut for about 10 years before moving on to St. Louis. Joyce Curry __________________________________ Discover Yahoo!
