    3. Gerogia, The Moolah Temple has been renovated as follows: "The Moolah Temple has been transformed into a vital and thriving center. It was built in 1912 and dedicated in 1914 as the home of the St. Louis Chapter of the Shriners. It was closed in 1988 when the Shriners moved to their new home in the suburbs on Fee Fee Road. The Moolah Temple is being completely renovated to become part of the Historic Midtown District, a popular arts, entertainment and educational district. It is across from the St. Louis University Campus and just blocks from the Fox and other venues along Grand Avenue. The theatre section of the Moolah Temple opens on December 22, 2004 as a premiere theatre in St. Louis, a single screen theatre boasting the areas largest screen. Seating will be on two floors with a balcony. Total seating for the theatre will be at 500. The theatre will be operated by St. Louis Cinemas who also operate the Chase Park Plaza Cinemas located a short distance west of the new Moolah Temple theatre and they also operate the Galleria Six located in the Galleria Mall. The exterior of the building has been restored to its original Romanesque, Arabic finish. The windows have been restored also with an eye for historic detail.Later there is a proposed bowling alley and offices in the building along with office space. A new garage has been built directly behind the Temple." I believe the bowling alley is now in operation. 3. I was in St. Louis the last week of July-103 degrees the day we arrived. On the days my husband was not doing his train stuff we drove around looking for the houses my grandparents and great grandparents lived in. Couple of the areas were a little scary (5300 block of Cote Brillante and either Lafayette or Shaw) but I didn't see any bars on the windows or doors like one sees when driving in Detroit. Drove pass some really beautiful neighborhoods with large brick homes. Stopped in at the Missouri Historical Society briefly and got copies of an historical map of St. Louis from around 1874 . We visited both of the St. Louis Cathedrals. Absolutely amazing mosiacs in the new one. Went to Grant's farm and Drewes(?) custard shop. Had toasted ravioli at one of the train gatherings and experienced gooey butter cake a couple of times. This time I visited my relatives. Saw one cousin whom I hadn't seen in about 40+ years. Met my mother's last surviving first cousin and her niece. Went to both libraries for brief research-I was not prepared for my research trip this time. Of course, Kathy Smith of the St. Louis Public Library was up here in Michigan at the same time that I was in St. Louis. I do have a question for those who live in St. Louis or have lived there. What is the Moolah (?) Temple? Georgia

    3. Moolah Temple is one of 191 Temples of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine---in other words, a Shrine Temple. The Shriners operate 22 Hospitals for Children at no charge to the child or parent. They spend about 1.6 million dollars a day in this philanthropic endeavor. Sorry for the seemly blatant commercial, but could not restrain myself in answering her question. 3. Pat, I have the burials disks that were sold by the Genealogical Society. This is the description of Holy Trinity Cemetery from the disk. The disk contains the 1,313 records. Send me the name you are researching - off the list - and I will do a lookup for you. "Holy Trinity Cemetery was established in 1849 at Taylor and North Broadway. It was sometimes called New Bremen Catholic Cemetery. It closed in 1909 before nearby O'Fallon Park was expanded. Holy Trinity was often referred to as the "Poor Man's Catholic Cemetery". Only a partial list of burials is available. Bodies were moved to Calvary. The only list of burials that exists is for the years 1862 and 63 and this is a partial list - 1,313 records."
