    2. Ok I tried to respond to the person who asked about this - only to get an automated response that they are not accepting any emails except those on their list - this is very irritating! It is a one time reply and I have no interest in filling out a request to be allowed to send them mail. If you ask for help on these lists - please be courteous enough to set your email so you can RECEIVE it.

    3. Hi Pat: 1300 N. 22nd would have been about Mullanphy/Cass. St. Charles Rock Rd. was/is the County extension of the city's Easton Ave. (now MLK) and is not near the 1300 N. 22nd address, i.e., this Home was not in their 'neighborhood'. There was a German Protestant Orphans Home between Hanley & Lackland & StCR Rd. at North & South Rd. There is a 1900 census for the Home available but would obviously need their name. However, nearby your gg-grands was the German St. Vincent Orphan's Home (Roman Catholic) at 1421 Hogan. This converts to roughly 18th & Cass. Do you know their religion? 3. This note is from the Dogtown list - Bob Corbett. Diane Folks, This coming Wednesday night Channel 4 at 7 PM will air a new film on Forest Park called: MAINTAINING THE GLORY. This was made for Forest Park Forever, I presume as a fundraiser. This seems to me that it will be an important film. As you all know from what you've read on this list, whether it is you yourself reporting, or you just hearing so many others of us report, Forest Park is a shinning gem right now. It is one thing to undertake a phenomenally expensive rehabilitation -- which has been mainly finished now -- and another to have the funds necessary to MAINTAIN it. These things do need tending. But, in giving Forest Park Forever a chance to appeal to your desire to keep the park what it is now, you are likely to get a marvelous view of what it is now in its shinning glory. This Wednesday, 7 PM, Channel 4. Bob Corbett

    3. Since we are discussing the Masons, can anyone tell me if the Scottish Rite Library still exists ? Back in 1949 (before my time) the Globe Democrat did an excellant series on, "St. Louis History in Pictures". Many of the photos were courtesy of the Scottish Rite Library of St. Louis. These photos are amazing, I have never seen many of them before. Wide panaramic views of the city back in the 1870's; street scenes of people at work; camp photos of St. Louis soldiers in the Spanish American War (1898), ect. I have never seen these published by the Missouri Historical Society or anywhere else. They are fantastic. Where can we find them today ? P.S.: If you have not seen the movie "National Treasure", starring Nicholas Cage and you like history, you will love it--it is a history adventure (and is also about the Masons). --Scott K.
