There are no Woehrheide listings in the Salem Lutheran Book at all -----Original Message----- From: SSmith3901@aol.com To: StLouis-MO-L@rootsweb.com; StLouis-MO-D@rootsweb.com; MO-STLOUIS-D@rootsweb.com; MO-STLOUIS-METRO-D@rootsweb.com Sent: Thu, 11 Jan 2007 10:31 PM Subject: [MO-STLOUIS-METRO] Salem Cemetery My husband's grandparents Agnas Taylor and Raymond Woerheide were born and raised in St. Louis. They had a daughter, Marie Woerheide born April 6, 1925 and died September 2, 1929. Gramma Heide (Agnes) told me about 15 years ago she couldn't remember where Marie was buried. She said her body was moved (not her choice) but didn't know the name of the cemetery she was moved to. Thanks to the Mo. Birth and Death Database I found Marie's death certificate. Says she was buried at Salem Cemetery on September 4, 1929. The family lived at 5504 Jennings Ave, Ward 23. Does anyone know anything about Salem Cemetery or know where the bodies were moved to? I just glanced thru St. Louis website and didn't see anything. Agnas Taylor's parent's were Alfred Otto Taylor and Mary Vedder. After Mary died, Alfred married Amelia Kaufman. Raymond Woerheide's parent's were Charles Woerheide and Emma Ida Boehmer. 2. Were they by any chance Lutheran? There is a Salem Lutheran Church in North St. Louis County and they have a cemetery. I remember hearing that the church cemetery was behind the church and later moved across the street and down the road. Could this be your Cemetery? Donna

    3. Does anyone on the list have a LUTHER BURNES on your family tree? He would, for certain, have lived in St Louis between 1890 and 1898. Would have married Katie Byrne approximately in 1896 or 97. They would have had a baby in 1898 named George. They would move to Lott, Texas (Fall County) by 1900 according to the 1900 census.----Jim

    3. I have found some interesting on-line books using Google Books and searching on the Irish county or town and surname. I am sure many of you already know how to do this, but for the newbies, I am going to post this: Go to Google, click on "more", click on "books" and enter whatever you seek in the search engine. You will find lots of books that are on line and you can read through them and find your info. Diane Shaw St. Louis, MO

    2. Hi Mary, The snow finally stopped here. We are in Lone Tree, a subburb of Denver. I am sure most people have seen on TV that we have been in a blizzard, but it is now over. We cannot get out of our street yet onto the main roads, but we got all of our groceries in on Tuesday before the storm so we have plenty of food and we are safe and warm. Our seven year old and her friend are sitting in the hot tub right now in outside temperature too cold for me, and they will come inside soon and finish up in the steam room and sauna while my hubby and I sit by the fireplace and watch a movie. God is good and thanks for your prayers. Shirl

    2. We have at least 3 ft of snow in our yard now and it is still coming down. Can't get out of our front door. Joe opened the garage door to 3 or 4 ft of snow (he didn't measure it but it was pretty high) and a bunch of our neighbors saw him shoveling so they came and helped him. they think he is too old to be out there doing that. LOL and he probably is. It has not stopped snowing yet and our govenor has called a state disaster emergency. People are still stranded out at the airport and no planes will be leaving until sometime tomorrow. We had a blizzard like this in 2003 also. Stay warm! shirl
