I have not been able to find any record of these two and/or their families in Missouri: KEY/KEE in the Chillicothe region LAXTON in the Joplin region 1) My great-grandfather WILLIAM "BILL" KEE was born in Chillicothe, MO, February 9, 1850. When he was a school boy, a teacher had him change the spelling of his name from "KEY" to "KEE." He "crossed the plains" to come west in 1873. We have a family picture that is signed on the back, "G.B. KEY," and it was taken at the Dunlap Studio in Chillicothe - we think that G.B. was the father of William, but cannot document that. 2) My grandfather CHARLES EDWARD LAXTON and his two brothers, JAMES LAXTON, and STEWART/STUART LAXTON. Family verbal history indicates that they were born in Missouri. Charles was born February 27, 1873; I do not have birth dates for James or Stewart. Charles and James went west into Oregon as young men. Stewart remained in Joplin, Missouri, and died there - no known dates. If anyone could help me find records on these families, I would be very grateful - so far all my research has brought up nothing. Thank you very much for your assistance. Dean Laxton.
