Hello, I am new to this list so hope I'm doing this right. I live in England, I am researching my American husbands family, I have just got a marriage certificate from Piatt Co IL. for GEORGE WASHINGTON BURGESS and ELLEN MUSSLEMAN in 1885. From that certificate I have discovered that his father was GREEN BURGESS mother LOUISA MURRY. I have found them on the 1880 census in Mansfield, Piatt, IL. They apparently moved to Maitland MO., except George and Ellen who went to IA. Happy to share what I have. Happy Easter.....Diane
Let us get serious for a moment! Our family is looking for DENVER D LIGGETT, b/abt 1888, possibly in Missouri He married, FRANCES E BENJAMIN, b/abt 1878. From this union came two children: Ruby Liggett, b/abt 1905 (looking for her also) and our father, Denver Jr, b/1907. The family lived in Denver Colorado when Jr was born, and recorded in the 1910 Bisbee Arizona census. However, in the 1920 Census only Sr was recorded, alone!!! Where did he come from and where did he go ?? Any info will be rewarded thanks in advance jrl

I found a relative on this census. However, she was receiving the pension for a son. Does this census include both the North and the South? How can I find out which son (at least 3 maybe 4 severed) she was receiving the pension for, so that I can request her records. I have the form to send in, but I have no idea which son... Judith, My husband's family is from Chillicothe. I just spoke to his aunt there, and she is checking out when it started. It may be a couple of days, before I find out anything. The college did exist at one, another one of his aunt's graduated from there in 1946. As of today, the college is no longer in existence. Libby
Could someone tell me how to tell if someone was confederate or union. I think if it has Volunteers, it is Union. Am I right?
Does anyone know if there is a Chillicothe Business School or College in Chillicothe, MO? How old is it? Would there have been a pre-Civil War predecessor [1846-1849]? Could it have provided mail-order education to OR roughly around 1860-1880? Would appreciate any insight or direction. I'm trying to prove a claim made that an ancestor received a diploma from that school. He left for the CA gold fields in 1849, returned MO long enough to be on the 1850 Marion Co census listed as a "miner," then settled in OR [1852] until he died in 1901. judikat@teleport.com
Marion Co--Union/Philadelphia Twp-- early 1830s to 1877: William R. and Lydia <Sanders> WALKER --had 8 children. He was a magistrate. Does anyone know what a MO magistrate did, how one was trained, and where/how to find his records? Thank you, judikat@teleport.com

Looking for the following families in Missouri: Heuermann/Heuerman in St. Louis, Pettis Co and Benton Co. Other MO locations okay too. Illinois Heuermanns too. Greenstreet - mostly Franklin Co., Larimore - Pettis County, Siebe - Pettis Co, Lusk - any MO, any state. Thanks, Mary
My interest is in the SYRETT/SIRETT/SIRED (and other variants) originally of Upper Winchendon, Buckinghamshire England. Believe a member of the family may have migrated to USA and settled in Missouri, probably during the 1800s. Would be greatful for any information on the family. Hi List, I'm new to this list and genealolgy. Most of the people I'm researching are from the Lincoln County-St. Charles County area, from the Civil War to the 1920 Census. I can't wait for the release of the 1930 Census! Most seem to be Afro-American or mulatto. There are a lot of girls, consequently a lot of surnames, sorry. BALL, WATTS, WILLIAMS, STEWARD, ROBINSON, HAYDEN, LANIER, LUCAS, JAMISON, MCROBERTS, ROBERTSON, FORD, MAJORS, WHITESIDE, STEWART, GREEN, HINES, SMITH, MITCHELL, BRAXTON, VANCE, HARVEY, TERRY, CANNON. After the 1920's some moved to St. Louis and married: ENDERS, ALEXANDER, LISK. tia, Valerie Lisk 72723.2326@compuserve.com
My husband and I have lived in NW Arkansas for the past five years. We were both born and raised in Missouri and most of our family research is in the counties; Dent, Howell, Oregon, Ozark, Texas and Wright. Like so many who have moved away, we realize that we should have taken more time for family reseach while we were there. My family lines are BERRY, DOUGHTY, GENTRY, SELBY, STEPHENS and WATSON. My husband's lines are CARROLL, CASEY, CRAWFORD, CRICK, McKINNEY, MYERS, SANDERS and SMITH. Most of our Brickwalls are from the Civil War era. We would appreciate any help with these lines and will be happy to share the information we have. Utah & Dollie (Watson) Myers
