The major names I'm researching are: RIGGS, anytime to present. COLEMAN line begins with Sam COLEMAN, down to Hattie COLEMAN, b. 1884, TN. Hattie married Claud Melvin RIGGS and some of their offspring settled in MO. Charles W. WELLS, wife Sarah Ann (GREGG/GREIG/GRAGE) and children: Dema, Edwin and Martha, are shown on Dunklin Co. census, 1860; Edwin Finley WELLS may have died in the Walnut, Newton Co., AR area around 1917. GOUGE line starts with James Franklin GOUGE, whose family is shown on the 1900 census as being in Bollinger Co. Peggy Riggs Kopp

Hi, I'm fairly new to this list and don't believe I have introduced myself yet. I'm researching the surnames of Rich, Barnes, Thomas, Chambers, James, Core, and Honssinger. More about these families can be found on the web sites below. The Missouri Cousins site has references to 399 surnames. Quite a lot of these surnames are unrelated to my family since this site contains school information and other resources. I would like to put in a request again to anyone who might have any information on the SIMMONS family of NW MO (Gentry, Nodaway and Cole Counties) ca. 1847 and on; Parents Joel and Nancy, several children: Charles, Mary, John, Martha, and some others. Joel was born in VA, Nancy in KY. Married in Nodaway Co. Mo 1847. Any information would be welcome, since I have hit a brick wall here. I know there are some relatives out there! Sincerely, Kathy Marie Garness kathleen656@earthlink.net
Good morning group..........I have a real puzzle to solve. My ggrandparents Charles BRISCOE and wife Rose LYNCH/BRISCOE were living in Cass county in 1883 when my great uncle was born, grandmother was born 1882 in Pleasant Hill. Both children were baptized in Holden, Mo St. Patricks Church. I can find no other trace of Charles until the 1900 census in Oregon where he has a new wife Rachel, they have been married 3 years according to the census. What I am looking for is either a death of Rose LYNCH/BRISCOE or a divorce record of Charles BRISCOE and wife Rose....... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jacqueline jacroing67@aol.com
Dear List Members First apologies for this off topic post but I feel it is for the good of the list that we are all informed. As you know I do not allow posts of virus warnings to the list, however there is a new version of Bad Trans on the loose. This along with the expected arrival on the net of all of those who receive computers in their Christmas stockings(figure of speech) has prompted me to ask that everyone take time to make sure their antivirus software is up to date. If you are running an antivirus program it MUST have the latest updates to be able to protect you from the latest virus and/or worm. W32.Badtrans.B@mm at: http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.badtrans.b@mm.html For more info on the latest virus as well as links to the Trends Housecall where you can have your computer scanned for virus online visit my Virus/Hoax Page at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rmbeckman/virushoax.html If you do not have an Antivirus Program there is a free one available thru Grisoft. The link to it is on my virus page listed at the url above. Please protect your computer files for your sake as well as others. Any responses to this post should be sent to MO-ROLLCALL-admin@rootsweb.com Thanks to you all, Marie B. MO-Rollcall List admin. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi Carolyn, At this point I do not know of a connection, but I am still trying to get past the barrier of previous to marriage whereabouts of John W. Mathews. I will keep your post & update you if I do see a cross reference! Thanks for responding! Joni D Mathews Pawlikowski
I am researching a Henry Mat(t)hews who was born in Texas in 1874. I found him listed as Mathews in Texas and on the 1900 census of Cherokee County, Ks as Matthews. It list his wife as Josie Jenkins from Tenn. b. 1874. Maybe there is some connection. Hello MO-ROLLCALL-L, If I had an uncle who was a career Air Force man, and family rumors said he retired to somewhere in Missouri (Jefferson City?) circa 1956 (That would be 20 years from his probable enlistment date) I would be hard pressed to get information on him, if he was in Missouri, from this list because this list deals with people and dates further back, right? Uncle was born 1916 and is probable dead by now since my dad and the rest of his brothers are, but he is said to have had two sons who no doubt had children, and they might be about but this list doesn't deal with living persons, do you? The MO-CENSUS list is definitely out, too. Yes? So, instead of listing the vitals now I'll wait for some kind soul to tell me I'm on the wrong train and perhaps direct me elsewhere with my questions. Kind Soul, are you there? George T in Pennsylvania

I am happy to announce a new mailing list for the area of Wayne, Stoddard, Butler, Carter, Iron, Madison, Bollinger, and Reynolds County. This new list is called Wayne County MO Area. The purpose of this list is simple - since Wayne County was much larger than it's current size, and since families tended to moved back and forth between the neighboring counties, this mailing list will be a regional/area mailing list that will encompass Wayne and it's seven border counties. All topics pertaining to the area will be discussed and shared and will be for the family researcher and history caretaker. These topics will include census lookups, cemetery listings for any and all surrounding counties that have been shared or given permission to put online, marriages, and so much more. I welcome all suggestions of what you want or need to see on the list. This is YOUR mailing list! We are neighbors and the other counties mentioned will be getting this same announcement if the list administrator for the original county list gives permission. To subscribe to the List mode, send to wayne-county-mo-area-l-request@rootsweb.com and type the word subscribe in the subject line and in the message box. If you prefer the digest mode, you will need to send the command instead to wayne-county-mo-area-d-request@rootsweb.com. Hope you will all join me there! Terry Black Temples
