    3. I'm afraid that during a real emergency, none of these wonderful heirlooms would even enter my mind! My first thoughts would be to see my family to safety. My sister called me last night and she rode out the tornado in Jackson, MO night before last. She said she couldn't tell if it lasted 5 seconds, 5 minutes, or 5 hours - it's just like you're suspended in space. She was very lucky - the buildings across the street from her were destroyed and it hopped her building and hit the parking lot behind it. About 20 cars were destroyed (including hers). She just feels lucky to be ALIVE. So, as I said, if a real disaster stuck, SAFETY first. I would mourn the loss of my treasures later. We have an article each week in the paper and it got me thinking.... What is your greatest or favorite family heirloom or treasure that you own that you would hate to lose? Tell us!! With the tornadoes going around in the Ozarks, and with tornadoes being a constant threat out here in Kansas, I have wondered what I would save if I had to made an emergency run to the basement.. I have quilts that ancestors made; family antique dishes; notebooks of family info filled with those wonderful old pictures; and so much more. I have already kept my son's baby book and his photo album filled with pictures from his 1st year stashed in the basement... but I have to admit, it would be a very tough decision what I would grab first of my pet genealogy treasures. What about you?
