Okay, you guys!! What's new?? What is everyone working on so hard that there are no postings to this List? I'm working to trying to find concrete documentated info on my John and Sarah ELLIOTT, parents of my Phebe ELLIOTT DETHROW.. Phebe mar. Elias DETHROW, and they were in Oregon Co. by 1868... That got started again when I found my Phebe's sister's obit... another case of families loosing touch!! So, that was exciting, but we are hitting brick walls and getting lots of headaches!! Have also been trying to locate current living cousins on Sadie's line, but with no luck!.. I also was sent an obit for my William Daniel MARIOTT SCONCE, brother to my ggrandfather, John H.C. SCONCE, who lived in Calif. That was exciting to see some more info.. Have been trying to locate current living cousins, as well, but with no luck either!.. I have also broken down and put some gedcoms on the worldconnect.. so many people have put my line on there and several have mistakes and they are refusing to correct.. so, I figure that if my info is going to be out there, it'd better be right!! So, I broke down and did it!! Welcome back JIM!! JIM wrote me tonight and tells me that he has been in the hospital, and is now out and back on the 'net! We're glad you're doing better, JIM!! We missed you!! What is everyone else working on? This List is WAAYYY to quiet!! Lanita

Well, first, I'm working on a bunch of old tin type photographs my Mother gave me (various of her McKinney ancestors). We have identified several, but a few remain in the "maybe ..... " category. They look in terrible condition, but are scanning in rather better than I expected, and with all the power of PhotoShop, I am able to get quite good digital images out of them. I'm being a little conservative in restoration because I don't want to loose any original artifacts. Its a little eerie zooming in on faces of people I never knew but are as close as two generations ago, from whom I am directly descended. They leap onto my screen with a warm greeting. Secondly, after years of frustrated conjecture and searching, I've made contact with someone who has given me REAL evidence of my great grandfather's birth date, place and first wife. Warren Newton Burnett was born in 1856 in Georgia (1880 census for Phelps County (MO), Meramec Township lists him and his first wife Catherine, with a 7-month-old son James Edmond who was my grandfather). At last, I've got some solid clues for further searching! Those of you who have faced brick walls for a long time will understand how excited I am about this. So, what has everyone else been up to?
