So much to do and so little time! Bet you've never heard that one! The last month has been filled with eradicating the Klez virus from my computers! What a battle which I have - I think - finally won but at great expense and much lost time. I use my computer network in our business as well as my various research hobbies. This virus damaged the operating systems on two of the main computers which required a complete re-format and re-install of windows and all programs and databases. Thankfully, I had made backups otherwise ALL would have been lost. It saddens me to think that there are nasty little people out there in cyberland who would use their obvious computer and technical talents to reek such havoc on total strangers! I am certain of one thing: there is a very special place in hell for these people! I need help finding my Johnson relatives from Doniphan, Ripley Co., MO. The last lead which I have that is more than a guess is on the 1880 US Census For James Johnson married to Sarah (Nettles). They had one son, Perry S (Samuel?) Johnson BUT there were several other children from Sarah's previous marriage to John Hinkle who died, divorced, left or disappeared sometime between 1873 and 1876, living in the household. I can't find any of this family after 1880! They just seem to disappear! James Johnson was about 18 and Sarah was 34 at the time of their marriage in January, 1876. The couple had an established farm and James's mother was living next door with two of James's siblings. I would dearly love to know the story behind this but so far all is speculation. I have found records of Perry S. Johnson who was on the 1900 US Census in the US Army located in Bataan Province, Philippians. In 1908, when Perry married Pansy Ann Tufts in Cumberland Co., ME he lists his parents as residing in St. Louis, MO BUT I have been unable to locate James and Sarah anywhere on the 1910 Census. Also, If James and Sarah were still together in 1908, I would suspect that they had had some more children together during the preceding 28 years BUT I can find no record of them anywhere. Any help on the genealogical problems would be very much appreciated! If any of you have this Klez virus my heart goes out to you. I would be happy to share with you the process of getting rid of it! Norton seems to be the best solution and very knowledgeable and helpful - for a price! Larry Johnson Clovis, CA
