Sarah Hinkle married James Johnson after Francis M. Hinkle died, divorced, left or disappeared between 1873 and 1876 and she is shown on the 1880 US Census: Ripley Co, MO, Union Twp. 11JUN1880 as living with James Johnson and their son Perry S. Johnson and 4 Hinkle children as well as a nephew and her grandfather Shadrach Nettles (77). On this census (1880), next door is Martha (Moore?) Johnson a widow and as I recall, two of her children. Best I can guess is that this is James's mother and siblings. My problem is this: 1) None of these people are shown on the 1870 US Census for this area. 2) No 1890 US Census for this area exists and I cannot find any of them - except Perry S. Johnson - on the 1900 or 1910 US Census. So, they appear only one time that I can find so far. I know better of course but this is my dilemma. Can anyone shed some light on this one?
