    3. Hello List, I have been doing reseach for some years now, and have come across those in all my lines so far that I fail to understand. I thought research was as much about finding those alive in your family as those that have passed on. When I think of family passed and there lives how they had to work for even water and heat and food. You didn't do a couple hours work to pay your heat bill. You worked days to cut the wood for cooking and heat. And these families still took others in there homes and shared what they had. God what went wrong with my families they won't give you the time of day if they had a alarm clock in there back pocket. That takes to much effort on there part and to much time and they are not getting anything out of it.The so few I found in my family lines that do share I can uderstand why they are doing research they know what family is and care about family. What I fail to understand is why the others bother they should take there research time and learn the true meaning of the word. Thanks, Barbara

    3. Barbara - not too long ago one of the 'Items for Discussion" for the list , was Why do We do Genealogy. I believe the replies may have been saved in the archives on our WebSite, but if not, I have over two dozen that I saved for myself. We have all experienced relatives that claim to know nothing or just ignore your pleas for information, some that are downright hostile, and others that are complete jewels and ready to share whatever they can. Just hang in there, take the do-dos with tongue in cheek, and cherish the ones who help you. P.S. - I looked up do-do to be sure I spelled it right, and was tickled by the description in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. "1. Heavy flightless extinct bird. 2. One hopelessly behind the time; a stupid person."
