    3. I am still searching for information on my gr grandfather Alanson W. Barnes, born 1834 somewhere in NY state. I have been unable to learn where Alanson was born in NY state, or who his parents were. There was another Alanson Barnes in Lewis Co NY in the 1850 Federal census. This Alanson was a lawyer and I have found no connection to my Alanson. Alanson married Harriett Briggs, 1867 in Steele Co MN. Alanson died 1909 in Oregon Co MO. Hettie died 1943 in Oregon Co MO, Hettie's death cert states that she was 102 years at her death. Both are buried in Rover cemetery, Oregon Co MO. Marriage record for my gr grandparents states that Hettie's surname at time of marriage was Briggs. All records indicate that Alanson was indeed born in NY. However some records, for example census records for his children, show Alanson's birthplace as WI and his wife Harriett as being born in MI. My immediate family believed that Harriett's (Hettie) was born in PA and that her suname was Moore. My first record of Alanson is his marriage record. According to family records as well as the Federal census their first 3 children were born somewhere in MO after 1870. About 1875 they return to Steele Co MN where I found them on the 1880 census. They had 4 children born during the approximate 9-10 years they remained in MN. It was in the 1880 census that Alanson's brother Edwin Barnes is mentioned. It states that Edwin too was born in NY about 1882. He was living in Alanson's household, single and working as a farm laborer By 1885 they had removed MN to Oregon Co MO where my grandfather was born. They remained in Douglas and Oregon Co area of MO for the rest of their lives. I would be so grateful for any information on this Barnes line.
