    3. Hi Lanita, I walked through the 1830 U.S. Federal Census � Arkansas � Lawrence County, I found no James Merritt. The 1830 census at Ancestry does have an index but it also shows hits from the recontructed census. These you can tell by the year. Both of your hits show 1835 and 1836 as the date, they can either be from tax lists or in the case of the 1835 hit probably a Arkansas state census?
