    3. Lanita, I'm pretty certain that the location of the land had nothing to do with the state in which the soldier served or died. Until 1842, the only lands available for purchase by bounty land warrants based on service in the War of 1812 were in the public domain in Illinois, Arkansas and Missouri. After 1842, public domain lands in other states became available.
