I have ordered records several times from NARA but always for union soldiers and always when I knew a pension had been applied for and received (through Ancestry). Now I have encountered Haywood M. McMillen, Company H in 1 Arkansas Infantry (Colquitt's), rank: Private, Allegiance: Confederate, Notes: McMillan, H.M. This came from Ancestry and I am sure this man is connected to my "MS to AR" McMillens because he followed them from MS to AR and purchased land in Arkansas Co.,AR with Marley McMillen. I cannot find him in the 1860 census in either Arkansas Co. or Lawrence Co. where Marley moved by 1870. Where would I find his service records? Catherine
Hi, I found him on our Civil War pages on the link below - http://www.couchgenweb.com/civilwar/1infcoh.html COMPANY H 1ST ARKANSAS INFANTRY REGIMENT CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA McMILLAN, H.M. Pvt Enl 18 Feb 1862 at St Charles, AR. Discharged 1 Aug 1863. Born in Hardeman Co, TN. You can order his military records by downloading and printing up a form to send for his record from the Arkansas History Commission. The fee and the address are on the form.
