    3. Lanita, Nobody was forced to register for Social Security until many years after the 1930s. I have very few of my ancestors listed in the SS register unless they were born in the 1940s or 1950s. In fact it has only been the last 20 years or so that SS numbers were necessary for children and I have friends who still don't have SS numbers.
