Another group that won't show up on SS is government employees that worked under the Civil Service umbrella; they have their own retirement plan. My husband recently retired and will never be listed under Social Security. Anyone who now works for government does pay into Social Security...except elected officials (please correct me if I'm wrong about this). Some were employed by the government under both plans. Those who paid into Social Security before the new retirement plan was enacted will receive partial Social Security benefits.
