    3. Sorry, all of the Oregon Co boys were listed as being in WEBSTER County, the old county name before they came up with Oregon. It was indeed a part of Ripley but the 1st name was Webster and not Oregon Co. It was that name a very short while, I've been trying to find where I found that.. will get back to you. Lanita

    3. I just looked at Ed's and it listed them as being from Webster, MO. The first page of the history shows that Company G, the company the Couch boys were in was formed in Webster TOWNSHIP. Apparently that township no longer exists or the name changed. It could also be in a neighboring county and that was the closest place they could sign up. A note on Ed's page says the location listed is the place of enlistment, but may also be place of residence. My gg-grandfather Benjamin Phillips was also in Company G and he lived in Piney Township in Oregon County.
