Okay, I found my confusion. Simpson Couch landed in Oregon Co./Ripley Co./Lawrence Co., AR, in 1830s. When he settled in the land we now know as Oregon Co in the Couch community, the community was 1st named HY and then the name was changed to WEBSTER before Simpson changed it to COUCH. Here are just some of the original names of locations in the county and what they are called now: NOW/THEN Couch/ Hy and also called WEBSTER Thomasville/Rich Hill Alton/Owlton Pleasant Hill/Seed Tick Greer crossing/Bellow Falls Bardley/Tightwad New Liberty/Brawley Joliff Springs/Goober Creek Riverton/Johnson's Ferry Royal Oak/Stringtown Thayer/Division then it was called Augusta Hope this helps!
