    3. Up until today, I would have said that one of my elusive ancestors was the burial site of my Julia MARIOTT SCONCE, wife of Daniel W. SCONCE, SR. I have always believed that she was buried at Yadkin, but no proof except that was where they were living when she died. But, today have had a breakthrough thanks to our own Betty TUCKER. She visited with Dena MARIOTT [dau. of Arthur "Arp" MARIOTT] and Dena remembered a story pertaining to the burial of my Julia MARIOTT SCONCE: The story she told in re to Julia was that she was suppose to have been buried at Yadkin, but the day she was to be buried it came a big rain and the creek was out of control and they could not cross so they turned around and brought her back to Bellah and buried her there instead. She said this was the story that was handed down from her dad. So, for all you MARIOTT researchers, put JULIA MARIOTT SCONCE down as being buried at BELLAH CEMETERY in RANDOLPH Co., AR. Lanita I'm always late. My ancestors arrived on the JUNE flower.

    3. Hi List 131 years after the fact, the mystery has been solved for Lanita and all the other Marriot researchers as to the place of burial for Julia Mariott Sconce. Genealogy never ceases to amaze me!!! On Friday I visited with Dena Mariott Smith a 84 year old widow living near the Bellah Cemetery (who is just bubbling with history of her area) in an effort to try to find out how many people she knew of that were buried in Bellah Cemetery that does not have tombstones. Dena is sharp as a tack and she starts naming them off. Then all of a sudden she said "And there is Jane Mariott Sconce, I think her name was Jane, the first wife of Uncle Dan Sconce. She died way back there before 1900 and I remember my dad telling the story about the day she was to be buried." She then proceeded to tell the story which Lanita has already shared with everyone.. Folks, I must say that when Dena mentioned the name Sconce I about lost my seat as I knew this had to be one of Lanita's elusive ancestors that she has been pulling her hair out over for years. As soon as I got home I contacted Lanita and ask her about this ?Jane? Sconce, 1st wife of Uncle Dan Sconce, telling her that Dena had said she was buried at Bellah. Well folks, this is all it took! Lanita's disbelief unfolded and she writes me back and says "Well how does she know she is buried at Bellah? This is my Julia (not Jane) Mariott Sconce and I always thought she was buried at Yadkin....... I then went ahead and told Lanita the story that Dena had told and although I feel it may have have been a little difficult for her to take, I think she is now convinced that it is the best and most positive info that has probably ever gotten in re to Julia's place of burial. I stand amazed that after all of Lanita's years of research to find her answer right here in our back door. A 131 year old mystery, now truly history!! Final thought: Don't EVER give up.
