Walter Mills was born in NC about 1822. Came to Oregon county after the Civil War. He was in Carroll County TN in the 1850 census with his wife Nancy Prewitt. He died in 1867 and Nancy was remarried to William Freeman. They had 10 children: James b 1851 m Margaret Simons Henderson b 1852 m Martha Simons Mary E b 1853 (my g-gm) m William Phillips (went to AR) George P b 1854 m Martha Risenhoover (went to OK) John H Mills b 1855 m Delilah Neel Simpson Mills b 1856 m Sarah E Pearce Martha A Mills b 1859 m Thomas Smith Robert Ellis b 1860 m Francis Ann Norman Amanda Mills b 1862 m Norva P Holms Sarah Mills b 1863 m Joseph F Dye Only Mills descendant that I know was in Oregon County was Oscar Mills. He died about 3 years ago. His widow still lives in Thayer. I have several cousins I have met online and on the phone. We are all looking for the parents of Walter Mills, but so far no clues.
