Recently I have seen several message for the surname Bussell on one of my mail lists. The name stirred memories so I went digging and here is what I found. Now bear in mind that I have done little research the past 2-3 years. I have finally retired again, YEAH! And now I am making an effort to get back to research again. I found a note to my self about my great great aunt Ellen Gates and gr gr uncle Robert Thomas Gates, both from Randoph Co AR. My notes tell me that Ellen Gates married a Pershall, born abt 1861. She married a Tom B. Bussell, 1902 Randolph Co AR. One child, Mamie Bussell, b. before 7 Aug 1908 She married a G.J. Harris 1906, in Randolph Co AR. he was born about 1880 , moving to Randolph Co AR in 1906 from KY. He lived with his wife Ellen and daughters Florida abd Ethel, was farming in 1910 in 1910 in Little Black, Randolph Co AR. He was affiliated with the Freewill Baptist church in 1910. Children were, Florida Harris, b. abt 1909 and Ethel Harris b. abt 1911. I would like to learn what happened to the first husbands and daughters (all 3). Ellen was the daughter of Frank (S.F.) Gates and Sarah Jane Noss Gates. She was born abt. 1865-67. My gr uncle R.T. as he was called, married a Malissa Bussell in 1899. Since I have learned that aunt Ellen married a Bussell, I have wonderd if there was a connection between the two. R.T. Gates was married 2 Dec. 1875, married 9 Nov 1899, and died 24 Jan 1909. Malissa was born 7 Nov 1884, died 15 Dec 1908. I believe both (w/o checking further) to be buried at Sharum cemetery in Randolph Co AR. They had the following children, Lewis Gates, Frank Gates and Goldie Gates. They were the guardianship of their uncle Michael C. Gates after the death of their parents. Michael's wife Margaret Gates assumed their guardianship after the death of Michael in 1911. ANY help appreciated, thank you...
