    2. Funny thing about family, you can live right next door to them and not know they're closely related to you. Or...you think you know your immediate family, ie, aunts and uncles, grandparents only to find out that you didn't know them at all! I was raised in Thayer, MO., and have found out in the last decade that a lot of the people I saw on the street growing up are cousins! When my father died in '93, it was casually mentioned that his older sister didn't belong to my grandpa Johnson, she was an out of wedlock child that my grandmother had at 14. Then I find out that the next oldest sister didn't belong to my grandma Johnson, she was from my grandpa Johnson's first marriage! That's what started me on the trail of genealogy. I wondered what else went on in my lines that I didn't know about. I wondered what stories I could find and how true they would turn out to be. When I asked the Aunts why they never mentioned this to me when I was younger (I was in my 30's) they just gave me this blank stare and said 'We never thought about it'. Hmm, makes you wonder what else they 'never thought about'. So many questions, so little time. Cathy
