    3. Doris, The spelling depends on where you find it. In Illinois it is spelled Cruse until the mid 1900s and then is Crews, but earlier it is spelled phonetically several ways. I found the same in Oregon Co., MO and in North Carolina. It's still the same group, but I don't know how closely related they are. Yet.
