    3. Mike, I think the Cherokee came through the Cruse line, but am not sure if the application name was Cruse. Since I just found out about this, I will have to read over the genealogy records to see if another name was mentioned. Thanks for the info. There was a Cruse that married into the Dills family in Oregon County, MO. Rufus Dills and Linda Cruse (?) and they were from North Carolina. I'll have to see where the Cruse family came from. The Miller and Cruse family married in Illinois, but the Millers had been there since the early 1800s. Don't know about the Cruse. Will update if I find anything. 1. [MO-OREGON-HISTORY] Native American/Indian Roll Call Numbers

    3. Pat, The key thing to remember on the Miller Guion rolls is that the index is to the names of the applicants of the alleged members of the Eastern Cherokee Tribe. So, if the ancestor who was a Cherokee, and whose name hopefully appears on one of the early rolls of Native Americans, was John Anderson, then the Guion Miller applicant might be an Anderson (descended through the Anderson side of the family), or the applicant might have another surname, if he/she was descended from a daughter or granddaughter of the John Anderson. So you have to consider all living descendants who were adults in 1906-09 as possible applicants. Good luck, Mike ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Phillips Miller" <texaspearl@gmail.com> To: <mo-oregon-history@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 29, 2007 12:54 PM Subject: Re: [MO-OREGON-HISTORY] Native American/Indian Roll Call Numbers > Mike, > I think the Cherokee came through the Cruse line, but am not sure if the > application name was Cruse.
