    3. Doris: Does it have any information about any wagon trains coming thru. Could you be so kind as to look and see if there are any names of Keeling or Kring in it? Thanking you in advance for your help. 3. Jane, I couldn't find any mention of wagon trains. When an individual history mentions when/how the family migrated to this region it just says they came by wagon or wagon pulled by oxen. Names that are close to the ones you inquired about are: KEET; KEETER; KEETON; Doris ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jane Foley" <mjfent@bellsouth.net> To: "Doris Johnson" <dorisjohnson@centurytel.net>; <mo-oregon-history@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, October 26, 2007 11:41 AM Subject: Re: [MO-OREGON-HISTORY] Lindley Couch > Doris: Does it have any information about any wagon trains coming thru. > Could you be so kind as to look and see if there are any names of Keeling > or Kring in it? 2. We have an oral tradition (my grandmother Emma Smotherman) of coming from Murray County, Ky to Shannon County in Missouri, and that the train was led by "Uncle Pitt" Smotherman. He was also reported to have led a previous train by the same route. I had never found a trace of Pitt Smotherman until recently when someone put on the list that he was buried in the South Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Incidentally, the Smotherman family started a "Pleasant Grove" church in Shannon County when they settled there. Azariah (the founder, don't know if that is official) was my great grandfather. 3. You know there must be some records somewhere of these wagon trains that came out of KY and TN to MO and other parts of the country. I would think that the Wagon Master would have a list of people that joined up and from what city they joined the train. Does anybody know where to look?
