    3. Lanita, have you come across any information on Mary Hill's son that had an alias and was hung for train robbery? Since 2 of the Mary DAVIS mentioned I am well aware of, and who they were proven by resources and direct family members, I am sending this to the list in hopes that someone on the list can pass it on to the society for next issue. 1. Mary DAVIS, who mar. Littleton Horace DAVIS and is buried at New Salem Cem., was Mary Ann DUBOISE, dau. of Elias H. DUBOISE and his wife, Rebecca. She was born 1820 in Tennessee, and Mary Ann was married to Thomas Hill, and had the Mary Ann Rebecca HILL, who mar. Lorenzo D. 'Rance" DAVIS, son of Littleton Horace DAVIS and his 1st wife, Jemima [Mina] MADDOX [who is also buried at New Salem]. After Thomas HILL's death, Mary Ann [the mother] married James HOWERTON on 3 May 1859 in Oregon Co. After his death Mary DUBOISE HILL HOWERTON, married Littleton Horace DAVIS. 2. Mary Ann Rebecca HILL DAVIS, was indeed the dau of Thomas and Mary A. DUBOISE HILL, and married Lorenzo D. 'Rance" DAVIS, 3rd son of Littleton Horace DAVIS and Jemima [Mina] MADDOX. Littleton Horace DAVIS was my 3great grandfather, and I have researched his DAVIS lines extensively. All of this information is in the Welcome K. BENNETT book which I previously donated to the OCGS a few years ago. It contains several documentation articles which should have cleared this confusion up. [Welcome K. BENNETT had a son, James, who mar. Littleton H. DAVIS's dau, Ladora Olive [Ollie] DAVIS, by L.H.'s 1st wife]. As for the 3rd Mary Davis, I am unfamiliar with her, as her husb. Eliphas, is not of my line. oh yes, the minors mentioned in the Estate of Mary Davis, wife of L.H., were: Littleton Horace Jr.[sometimes referred to Horace Littleton], Lorenzo Dow [Rance], and James F. DAVIS who were the children, of course. Rance was very prominent in the county and has an obit on file. Would someone please pass this along so that the clarification can be made in the next issue? For further info or questions, let me know!
