    3. I think you might be right Gene, about that being Black Jack Cemetery. Thanks for pointing that out about Black Jack School being down the road to the west. I didn't notice that at first. I don't have the name of anyone buried there. I wish I did. For those that go by township-range location, that cemetery is at C, E1/2, Sec 32, T. 22N, R. 6W. Lat/long is 363119N0913828W. I'm going to call it Black Jack Cemetery until I learn differently. Thanks for helping me out, Mike On Sun, 04 Feb 2007, okienms@telepath.com wrote: >Date: Sun, 04 Feb 2007 09:17:10 -0600 >From: Gene Phillips <okienms@telepath.com> >Subject: Re: [MO-OREGON-HISTORY] Unknown Cemetery >To: mo-oregon-history@rootsweb.com > >I can't help you with the name of the cemetery, but I can tell you that is is on CR 386. >The north/south road to the east is CR 377 and the road to the west is CR 385. 3. Shiloh is a bigger cemetery and lies just off W which is the east-west road from Thayer to the Gulf. The red mark looks like where Shiloh ought to be about six miles west of Thayer. Black Jack is a very small cemetery on a dirt road south of the Grand Gulf, more accessible from 142 W about seven miles west of Thayer. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lanita Sconce Smith" <ozarkn@grm.net> To: <mo-oregon-history@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, February 04, 2007 4:21 PM Subject: Re: [MO-OREGON-HISTORY] Shiloh Grand Gulf > The Cemetery book lists it as Shiloh Cemetery Grand Gulf. > > Lanita > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > MO-OREGON-HISTORY-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without > the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >

    3. On the theory that it might be a church cemetery, I did a search for churches. I didn't find one, but did find Black Jack School about 1/4 to the west of the cemetery on the other side of the road. There is a Black Jack cemetery in the cemetery book. But the directions to get there don't match the location of the cemetery you are looking for. The directions could be wrong. Following them could put you in Howell County. The directions don't give you a distinct starting point, but if you start in Thayer at Hwy 63 and go west on SR 142 you will get to the cemetery in a roundabout way. I'm guessing it is Black Jack Cemetery. The cemetery book says Black Jack Church was at one time across the road from the cemtery. The following surnames are in this cemetery: Huff, Reed,Trantham, Woolridge and about 20 unidentified graves. 3. Lanita, People get confused since there are two Shiloh Cemeteries on opposite sides of the county. If you are talking about the cemetery being over a mile south of the entrance of Grand Gulf, then Shiloh would be too close; if you're talking about from Grand Gulf itself then Shiloh would fit the directions. There is a church at that location. It's a beautiful cemetery. Pat Miller Dallas,TX Lanita Sconce Smith <ozarkn@grm.net> wrote: I suspect its Shiloh Cemetery Grand Gulf.
