The following was sent by C.J.... glad you are feeling like smiling. C.J. I thought this was appropriate for those of you who miss the Ozark and Southern ways.... maybe this will bring a smile on your faces... Lanita This is for Southern Belles, Ladies who should have been Southern Belles, and those who would be Southern Belles if they knew the rules. Someone once noted that a Southerner can get away with the most awful kind of insult just as long as it's prefaced with the words, "Bless her heart" or "Bless his heart." As in, "Bless his heart, if they put his brain on the head of a pin, it'd roll around like a BB on = a six lane highway." Or, "Bless her heart, she's so buck- toothed, she could eat an apple through a picket fence." There are also the sneakier ones: "You know, it's amazing that even though she had that baby 7 months after they were married, bless her heart, it weighed 10 pounds." As long as the heart is sufficiently blessed, the insult can't be all that bad. I was thinking about this the other day when a friend was telling about her new transplanted Northern friend who was upset because her toddler is just beginning to talk and he has a Southern accent. My friend, who is very kind and, bless her heart, cannot do a thing about those thighs of hers, was justifiably miffed about this. After all, this woman had CHOSEN to move to the South a couple of years ago. "Can you believe it?" said her friend. "A child of mine is going to be "taaaallllkkin liiiike thiiiissss." Now, don't get me wrong. Some of my dearest friends are from the north, bless their hearts. I welcome their perspective, their friendships and their recipes for authentic Northern Italian food. I've even gotten past their endless complaints that you can't find good bread down here. And the heathens, bless their hearts, don't like cornbread! The ones that really gore my ox are the native Southerners who have begun to act almost embarrassed about their speech. We've already lost too much. I was raised to "swanee," or "swan", not swear, but you hardly ever hear anyone say that anymore, I swanee you don't. And I've caught myself thinking twice before saying something is "right much," "right close," or "right good" because non-natives think this is right funny indeed. = I have a friend from Bawston who thinks it's hilarious when I say I'v e got to "carry" my daughter to the doctor or "cut off" the light. Sh e also gets a giggle every time I am "fixin'" to do something. And, bless their hearts, they don't even know where "over yonder" is or what "I reckon" means! My personal favorite was my aunt saying, "Bless her heart, she can't help being ugly, but she could've stayed home." To those of you who're still a little embarrassed by your Southerness: take two tent revivals and a dose of sausage gravy 'n' grits and call me in the morning, bless your heart! And to those of you who are still having a hard time understanding all this Southern stuff, bless your hearts, I hear they're fixin' to have classes on Southernese as a second language!

C.J., Welcome Back!! I'm glad to see that you are back into doing what you love to do [genealogy], but remember that our prayers are continually with you.. Let us know how else we can help.. I have always wanted to ask you about your FERGUSONS... did any go to Nevada, MO? If so, you may be connected to my sis in law.. Lanita
Hello my friends, I have never seen such an outpouring of prayers and love from this list, as I have received in your emails. I tried to email each of you privately, but may not have successful. I know that this is the best list ever, but I had no idea, that so many of you would write to me and it was a wonderfully comforting thing to do. Thank you for letting me be a part of this list. I missed roll call so if you don't mind: My Ferguson came from Tn. to Thayer ,HOwell Co. Mo. George Ferguson was a post master at Christie Mo in Howell Co. Also, Thomas Rigsby came and lived in Brandsville, I think, as his sister Francis Melvia Rigsby Ferguson visited him according to the P.O. Books. Other surnames, are Adcock, Capshaw, Webb, and others from other families but I don't think they came to MO> Thanks again everyone, I am as well as can be expected, hope to Chat with you anytime. I will certainly value your input. C.J. Williams

Thanks, Nancy. That was a very nice explanation of the people involved in that census info. Alfred Perry Couch was a brother of my gggrandfather, Lindley Couch. Carlene
I am looking for information on Charles Shelton Bingham , m. Martha Emaline Robinson, and son Robert (Bob) Edward Lee Bingham, m. Minnie Viola Tucker. Charles was born about 1840 as a Shelton and adopted by a Bingham. Birthplace is unknown, possibly TN or KY. Moved to Randolph/Clay county AR, date unknown. Suposedly buried near Datto, AR. Anna Mae BOZE, was the d/o Marshall Bridges BOZE and Anne Syrena TILLMAN, she md. Ray ALLEN. Martha A. COUCH, was Martha Ann BOZE, d/o James BOZE and his second wife, Lucinda PARROTT. Aunt Martha was Mother to lots of children, some of her own and some of her parents' and siblings' children, as well as Alfred's siblings' children. Martha and Alfred Perry "A. P." COUCH, were good people. No matter how hard they struggled or how little they had in the early days, they always made room for a child and never turned one away. Aunt Martha, is also responsible for many of the stories about the BOZE family, which were handed down through Anna Mae [Boze] ALLEN.
