Thank you Patricia for this information. Dose anyone have this marraige cer. Illoinis, that they could scan and send to me or death cer. for them. And did anyone find the marriage of William & Ann Austin if so could you tell me where to send for it or scan and send. Did anyone find the names of there children and which children belong to which wife. This is needed for William Nichols born in GA 1784 and died in Illionis 1865 and his 2 wives Pounina Pugh(is this German?)and Ann Austin. Thank you for any and all your help. Barbara eor@saber.net

At 15:50 10/11/2002 -0600, Bonnie L. Johnson wrote: >Ron - I'm not sure I noticed previously that you have Stringers in >your family. I don't, really. I should have a little more specific about this. Warren Newton Burnett is the father of my grandfather, Edmond Burnett, born 1879. Edmond's mother was, I believe, a Hattie Simmons, although I have no records for this (just a casual mention by my father many years ago). Apparently, Edmond's mother died at his birth, or shortly afterwards, and Warren Newton came with his infant son to Shannon County. We are not sure where they came from, but family anecdote suggests somewhere in Arkansas. Not long after their arrival in Shannon County (Eminence), Warren Newton Burnett married a Mary Stringer (in 1884). There is no record or family knowledge of any children by this second marriage. We know that Warren Newton Burnett died in 1925 at Eminence, and was buried in an unmarked grave at Summer (Summers?) cemetery at Ink. Now that I know about the marriage to Mary Stringer, and that many of her relatives are buried there, it is logical to assume (indeed, I am convinced) that the two unmarked graves in the midst of all the Stringer graves of the 1920s/30s is indeed my greatgrandfather and his second wife. It would be lovely to have independant confirmation of this, but I'm satisfied, in my heart (he speaks to me!) that he's there. Now .... I want to find where he came from, where and when he was born, and who his parents were, and something about his first wife Hattie Simmons (or did Dad say Summers? An intriguing thought.) So that's my (very tenuous) connection to the Stringers. All the best from a balmy, bright warm day down under, Ron P.S. My records show a Mary (aka Mollie) Stringer was the daughter of Harrison Tyler (Tip) Stringer (1840/1910) and Rebecca McHenry. Tip and Rebecca were apparently married in Shannon County on 28 September 1866, and had 7 children (Leta, Levi, Ada, Harrison, Mary, Tom and George). Whether it was this Mary (Mollie) who married my greatgrandfather, or Tom Stringer's widow (Mary Etta Boyd), I don't know.

Hello, I know this is a Missouri link but know our research takes us to many states. Was wondering if anyone has any links to IIllinois. I have 2 family lines there before they came to missouri and need links to that state. Or if anyone has done any looking in Britton Cemetery, southwest of Vanadalia, Fayette County, Illinois. Thanks, Barbara eor@saber.net
I have a Grandfather a few greats back that was born in Germany anyone know how I would go about getting records from there. Thanks, Barbara eor@saber.net

On Page No. 57 Little Black Twp, Randolph Co., AR 1870 census there is a Wilson Coats who I "believe" is our Wilson Coats. He is missing from the 1870 Texas Co., MO census. It shows: Wilson Coats 22 M W Laborer born MO (he was born in TN) Euphenia 24 F W born MO (called Phamy on tombstone) Sarah 6 F W born MO Martha 13 F W born AR Wilson's age should have been c/a 28, Wilson's wife went by the name of Phamy, we believe that the Euphenia could have been her name and "Phamy" a nickname. Sarah Jane is the right age for their oldest child. They then (if them) went back to Texas Co., MO, Wilson homesteaded and he and Phamy died 1875, both are buried in the Union cemetery, Texas Co., MO with other members of my mom's Coats family. Wilson and Phamy had three children Sarah Jane born c/a 1864, then Johnson "Johnsie" Mahala Coats born 1872 in AR and then Thomas Keggie Coats born in MO 1874. The Texas Co., MO homestead deed shows the three children's names left to them by death of their father, Wilson Coats. Thomas Keggie Coats then married my dad's aunt, Kizzie House. Kizzie was his second wife, first wife died and they are all buried in Union cemetery in Texas Co., MO. I knew my g uncle Keg and g aunt Kizzie. We are wondering if anyone has ever ran across a Martha Coats who would be the age of the 13 year old Martha in the 1870 census, she could not be Wilson and Euphenia's child. Or did the census taker just not put down a last name for her? ~ maybe she was just baby sitting Sarah Jane that day?? The Noblins from Randolph County are also in my Coats line we "believe". Wilson's sister, Nancy Redentine Coats married Alexander Noblin, we believe that Nancy was his second wife. We have not been able to find either marriage for him, my grandmother remembered him as "Elec" but I believe that it was probably "Alec". Nancy lived many years after he did, she is head of house in 1870 Texas Co., MO census, homesteaded. We have not been able to find Alexander and Nancy Noblin in the 1860 census but know that they were both together by ages of children. The two marriages for Alexander would have been before Texas Co., MO started keeping marriages. Nancy's step-son's death record (if him?) shows he was born in Texas Co., MO. One of Alexander and Nancy's son's death record has John Noblin as father and the other son's has Alex Noblin as father so his name may have been John Alexander Noblin. We "believe" him to be son of Samuel James and Cecilia Pyland Noblin. Alex and Nancy named their daughter Celia Ann Elizabeth Coats, that would have been after both grandmothers if we are correct. Nancy R. Coats and Wilson Coats were children of James and Elizabeth Hart Coats who came to Texas Co., MO from Bedford Co., TN. The Noblins were in Bedford Co., TN in 1840 census. Hello everyone, I am just back at home in Australia after a couple of months wandering around Missouri (and London and Paris). While in Shannon County, I visited several cemeteries where my ancestors are buried. First was Summer Cemetery at Ink. Its not easy to find unless you know just where to go. Despite its remote location, it is well kept and still in use. My greatgrandfather Warren Newton Burnett was buried there in 1925. He had married (second marriage) one Mary Stringer in 1884, and a number of her family are buried there, explaining why he wound up there rather than Munsell where, given Burnett family connections, one would have expected him to be. Next to other Stringer graves dating from the 1920s and 30s are two graves marked only with unengraved rough stones. Given the coincidence of family names and dates, I am convinced that there lies my greatgrandfather and his second wife. Another hard-to-find cemetery is that at Rector. Also beautifully kept and still in use, there lies my great uncle Grover Cleveland Wilson, his Terrill relations (he married Anna Terrill), and a young Wilson relative. Some of you may remember our amusement at a nice little pink granite stone in the Delmar Cemetery (on 106 highway between Eminence and Ellington), bearing only the inscription "Aunt Puss" with no dates. This turns out to be the tombstone of Mary Katherine Shelton who died on 14 February 1930. She never married and lived most of her adult life minding children and housekeeping for various of the Thompson families of the area. So there are a few tidbits for our archives. Of less interest to our topic, I stayed at a small comfortable hotel in Paris near the Pere La Chaise cemetery, and very much enjoyed a stroll through this very large, old place established in the very early 19th century. Among the resting places of the famous that stopped me for moments of silent reflection were Oscar Wilde, Frederic Chopin, Vicenzo Bellini, Edith Piaf, Simone Signoret and Yves Montand, Adelina Patti, Sarah Bernhart, Gertrude Stein and Alice Toklas, and perhaps most impressive of all, the transferred effigies of 12th century lovers Heloise and Abelard. Best regards to everyone, Ron Burnett Melbourne, Australia ron@cryptic.rch.unimelb.edu.au

Barb and List, Barb was just asking me about how to find the different counties and states message boards. Thought since she asked, there may be others who don't know as well... To find message boards for the different states and their counties, Go to: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.northam.usa.states This is for all of the United States.. .just pick a state, and click on it.. Then it will come up with one listed as "counties" in that state... Click on that COUNTIES and it will list all of the counties in that state... Click on the county you want, and that's it! If you have any problems, let us know. Lanita List Manager

Ron - I'm not sure I noticed previously that you have Stringers in your family. Mine are rather across the house, but are also classmates and their parents that I grew up with in Willow Springs, Howell County, Mo. There was a large family, and they were all very athletic. First, or oldest, I have is Finis Henry Stringer, born in probably Kentucky, July 12 1841. He had enlisted in the Civil War at Bowling Green, Ky and came to Missouri in 1884. Do you know if your Stringer(s) came West with other family members? Putting what I have in the hope that someone out there has a connection to this family and will help or no of a way to get over this brick wall. James Nowlin he was born in 1819 in Bond, Fayette Co. IL. married Enamette Adaline Williams( she was born in 1825 in Tenn.) they married July 16 1840 in Fayette Co. IL. their children were: Mary A Nowlin b. 1843 in Fayette Co. IL. Nathaniel Nowlin b. Sept. 18, 1845 d. July 27, 1929 Jacob Nowlin b. 1846 He was still alive in 1900 census William Franklin Nowlin b. 1848 Samuel Nowlin b. 1852 Sarah J. b. 1854 John Librum Nowlin b. 1855 Malinda Nolwin b. 1859 All were born in IL. I beleive but I have not proof as to when Enamette Adaline came to Mo. only that she was there in 1860 Wayne CO. Mo. census. James died before 1860 because Enamette Adaline Nowlin was a widow in 1860 In the Pulaski co Mo. census living next to her brother Oliver Williams. On John Lilburn Nowlin death cer. it has him born in Pulaski Co. Missouri on March 22, 1850. I get there is no record of his birth and also the court house burnt down. If anyone can help on where James Nowlin is buried,or born or any of his children or where is wife is buried this would help. Jhons children are the same way I can't find there birth. Thanks, Barbara eor@saber.net
