    3. At this time I don't! One of the things that I'm trying to find out. They could have married in Wright Co., Missouri as his parents are on the 1880 Wright Co., MO. Sometime between 1880 and 1890's they made their way to Randolph Co., AR though. Anyone else have more information on these families, I would be interested in this also as all of these would be related to me! Thanks Mike for the marriage information. 3. Hello, AIS Census Indexes can be compiled from the following sources, not just the Federal Census: "Record Type: A brief description of the type of record being indexed. In most cases the record type is a federal census population schedule. Other records, particularly for the "early census" series, were also used. These include voter lists, probate records, resident's lists, tax lists, state censuses, and non-population schedules (i.e. veterans schedules, slave schedules)." from Ancestry.com Denise original------------ Betty, Can you find any further information about the lost 1870 census records? The AIS Census Indexes list heads of household/variant surnames for all the townships in Randolph County, but the corresponding census page images only cover pp416-512. Now, somebody had to have the original records in order to compile the AIS Census Indexes. So, apparently those townships were enumerated, but something happened to the original census books after the information was recorded. There's a bit of info about the AIS Census Indexes at the url below, but nothing mentioned of destroyed/excluded districts: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/census/ais/faq.htm Help us, Betty! PLEASE! 3. In Jerry Ponder's book 'The History of Ripley County, Missouri' the only Pratt's mentioned are: 1860 census: page 36 - 'JOHN PRATT, Little Black P.O.' (where was this area?); page 92 & 93 - 'MATTHEW PRATT opened a store on the Ruff Ferry Road east of Poyner in 1894. A post office was establised and named for DANIEL PRATT who settled there in 1885. The Pratt Post Office operated until 1933. Just a short distance south of Pratt, William Fugate, a school teacher opened a post office in his home in 1894. The post office was closed in 18 months, however, when mail service was transferred to Pratt.' page 165 - 'PRATT was established in 1894 by MATTHEW PRATT. It was named for DANIEL PRATT who settled there in 1885. He moved from Alabama. By that time, a road had been built south from Doniphan through the Towells Community, crossing Current River at Ruff Ferry. West of the river it forked with one fork going to Supply, Arkansas, and one fork going to Poyner. Pratt was near the fork of the road. A post office was opened in the Pratt Store in June, 1894. It operated until January, 1933.' page 215 - 'Ripley County, Mo. Post Masters - PRATT Post Office; June, 1894 - MATTHEW PRATT' page 221 - 'Pratt - A store west of Current River named for JOHN PRATT who owned a farm and who established the store. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Betty Tucker" <bettytucker72455@yahoo.com> To: <MO-OREGON-HISTORY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, November 20, 2002 12:21 PM Subject: Re: [MO-OREGON-HISTORY] Re: Pratt > > I thought about that side of the Pratts and wondered if this William could have possibly been one of them.
