Hi Gang, I've been playing again in my process of trying to find more info the on the brothers CW service of my GGGrandmother.. I found a list of all the major battles, with dates, and places, as well as some facts for each battle.. this helped me to figure out when one of mine was injured in battle, and added one more piece to the puzzle.. Go to: http://www.heritagepursuit.com/Union/UnRostb.htm and go on down to the middle or bottom half of the page. Hope this helps! Lanita
Hey yall, Im playing again, and found this site for the Revolutionary War: http://colonialancestors.com/revolutionary/soldiers.htm Hope this helps someone, Lanita
This site gives decodes all kinds abbreviations used in the Quaker meeting records, and tells what was meant by them, even giving examples. Great information -- answered a lot of my questions. http://www.rootsweb.com/~quakers/quakdefs.htm Lanita
Thanks, Lanita. That was quick! Some very good information there. I appreciate it. Carlene
Here's a branch I haven't attempted before. Mary Frances Gage b. Aug. 4, 1857 Oregon Co., MO; d. Oct. 26, 1957 Saline Co., AR. Married Lindley Couch Jan. 7, 1877 Oregon Co., MO. I show them having 10 children. They moved to Saline Co., AR to raise this family. Anyone on the List have any info on Mary Frances Gage? She was the second wife of my gg-grandfather, Lindley Couch. I'm trying to fill in a lot of blanks on this half-related branch of the family. Thanks so much, Carlene Missouri Ozarks
Carlene, 1860 Oregon Co., MO Census: 13 Jun 1860, Piney Twp., p138:6, 38-40 GAGE, DAVID, age 34, Farmer $100, $50, born in TN Susanah, age 24, born in TN Eliza T., age 11, born in TN Sharlottie, age 9, born in TN James W., age 7, born in TN Mary F., age 3, born in MO Martha S. , age 1, born in MO They weren't in Oregon Co. in 1850 Census. I suspect that David GAGE was the son of Wyley [Wiley?] GAGE, who is 60 years old, and also in Oregon Co. in 1860. There is an Annie, age 26, a John, age 23; and a Calvin, age 21. Also in the county in 1860 is the family of Alfred GAGE [age 38, wife is Elizabeth.. they have several children]; and the family of Milford GAGE [age 37, has children, but no wife listed.]. There are some GAGEs listed in the Oregon Co. Marriage books for the years 1845-1890: GROOMS: Gage, James W. to Bates, Lucinda, mar. in 1887 Gage, John W. to Dismang, Lucy, mar. in 1860 Gage, Milford to Collins, Elmira, mar. in 1861 BRIDES: Martin, Patrick to Gage, Eliza Tenessee, mar. in 1866 and then: on the 7th of Jan 1877, listed in Book "A", on pg 181, Couch, Lindly to Gage, Mary F. Hope this helps, Lanita
* Name: John ELLIOTT * Sex: M * Birth: 5 AUG 1604 in Widford, England * Death: 20 MAY 1690 The son that some had listed was: BENJAMIN ELLIOTT. Born in 1720 in PA. BENJAMIN died in York County, PA on 15 Feb 1803; he was 83. In 1750 when BENJAMIN was 30, he married Ann WALL, in Lancaster Co., PA. I found all of this on the worldconnect and the LDS site... EVERYONE has John the father of this Benjamin, and I think there is at least 1 if not 2 generations missing. Lanita
I just got out of the hospital 3 weeks ago and one of the doctors sent me an appointment to come in for a checkup on Feb 15,2002 . I think i'm going to be late ,type o's are always there in every thing. JIM
Lanita, I wonder if there isn't a "typo" somewhere. 1. Maybe the dates are reversed--son born 1690, father died 1720. 2. It's so easy to type/write the wrong century or to transpose numbers. Sometimes it's a matter of a 4 or a 7 looking like a 9. Can you name the people and the source you are looking at? Maybe some of us can look and form an opinion. Judy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lanita Sconce Miller" <ozarkn@southwind.net> TOPIC OF DISCUSSION: Its posted that the father died in 1690, but son was born 1720...
I received the following message today. Many of us knew Elizabeth and benefited greatly from her research and willingness to share. A great lady will be missed. Gava The Children and Family members of Elizabeth A. Periman regret to inform you of her passing on November 25, 2002. We are sure that for those of you that have known her through the years will miss her as much as we do. Thank you and God Bless The Periman Children

(listed as Mrs. John Davis) possible other children Martha Elizabeth Davis Mary Ann Davis It is said that John Harvey's mother died in Kentucky (?) and when he was age 4, his father brought him to Arkansas to live with an aunt. There is a story about John and an uncle_________Rachel and black man crossing a river in a row boat. His uncle was quite drunk and he decided that the black man was not rowing fast enough. He drew his knife, intending to cut the rower's throat. John hit his uncle so hard he knocked him out of the boat. His uncle apparently caught a "chill" -but however that might have been- he was "layed up" from 4 to 6 weeks, and thought he was going to die. (He did recover). also: John Harvey's wife (Martha Ann Manda) was the first one in the family to join the RE-ORGANIZED CHURCH of JESUS CHRIST of LATTER DAY SAINTS, due to the influence of Hannah Bowers, who was the first member (Convert) in the community. They were previously Methodists. Her obituary has her birthday as 1849. She died at her old home-stead (Emeriar's home at time) from a stroke. They had lived for a time in Woodruff Co. before coming to Hardy, Ark. She is reported to have joined the R.L.D.S. Church in 1892 and remained faithful til death. Any information to help fill in gaps or connect with someone would greatly be appreciated Christi Scovel Elizabethtown, KY
JOHN was b. 1604.. died 1690.. The next generation that some has being the son of JOHN is BENJAMIN who was born 1720.. I think the real father of Benjamin had to have been born between 1633 and 1690... Right or wrong? Thoughts, comments, suggestions? Lanita
Correct: born 21 years after his first grandchild who was born in 1832. (not 1821) Gava
Something to think about: If the father who died in 1690 was 70 years old at death and his first son was born in 1640 this could be (1) b. 1920 died 1690 (2) son born 1640 (3) grandson b. 1660 (4) ggrandson b. 1680 (5) gggrandson b. 1700 (6) ggggrandson b. 1720. This, of course assumes each is the first son of the first son. A generation is generally considered to be 20 years. Men in the early years often produced children from about age 20 - 60. Do you know when the father, died 1690, was born? At what age did he die? Or do you know of other children by this father that would help establish an age range? I have one ancestor who's first child was born in 1810 and his last child was born in 1853; 21 years after his first grandchild b. 1821. The ancestor was 77 at this death. Good Ciphering, Gava
TOPIC OF DISCUSSION: Its posted that the father died in 1690, but son was born 1720... Of course, this is impossible.. My question IS: Am I missing 1 or generations? Im thinking 1, but can also see where it might be 2.. One View: If father died and young and had a small child and the child grew up and had a child is the only way I can see that it would not be the second gen. away. I tend to agree with you, but what do the rest of your think? Is there a way that it COULD be 2 and not 1 generation? Lanita
