Hi List, The 1880 census Jobe Township, Oregon Co. has Samuel S. Cypert (LDS transcription shows name as Cyprel) with wife, Malissa M., & 6 children. Also in this household is John Fultner & 4 of his children. Does anyone here know if this Samuel S. or Malissa M. Cypert were in any way related or connected to any of the Oregon Co. Wheelers? Am trying to prove or disprove a Wheeler/Fultner connection & this could be another puzzle piece. Thanks for any information that might help. Carlene Missouri Ozarks

No, my earliest Bates is John, born in Virginia 1774, died Cherokee County, Georgia in 1846. His daughter Louisa Etta Bates was born Elbert County, Georgia in 1821, married my great-great grandfather Richard Holland in Georgia, and survived him by several years. She is found on the 1870 census in Clark County, Indiana. I have no date or place of death for her. Louisa Etta was one of 10 children (Judith, Frances Lucinda, Jesse, George W., Sarah Elizabeth, Rhoda, Lee, Reuben and Frances Marion) of John Bates and Frances Burnett (Va. 1778 - Ga. 1856). I have a pencil drawing of Richard Holland and Louisa Etta Bates made shortly after their marriage. Any connections? Ron Burnett ron.burnett@wch.org.au
Ron Burnett here, from Shannon County (living in Australia): Researching BURNETT, WILSON, STRINGER, SHOEMATE, WOODWARD, PEDIN on my father's side, HOLLAND, McKINNEY, COOK, SWAFFORD, BATES, BURNETT, on my mother's side. Ron Burnett ron.burnett@wch.org.au
Don't have info on his ancestry, but there was an Edward J. BATES [1890-1969] who mar. my Emma J. BENNETT [1896-1982] in 1915 in Oregon Co.. I just have info on this couple and their children.. Thought if this Edward was in your line, I could give you info. Lanita
As for my Bates family, I talked a male cousin with last name of Bates into doing the DNA Bates testing for me. Should have the results soon. Hope it leads to some new ideas for search. Nancy or Lanita, Please reply to me privately. Is the Oregon County website still down? I tried to access it just moments ago and I ran into a OmniSite Security and can't get past that. Nor can I find how to log in. As far as I know I haven't been dropped from the list nor have I changed my user name/password. Thanks for your help. Dana djohnson973@comcast.net

Peggy, this book does show Jane as the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Wooldridge. Known children are listed as: Aranetta "Netty" (b. AR ca. 1848), Nathaniel (b. AR 1850, 1/12 year old in census), Pernecy (?) (b. MO ca. 1858). Unfortunately, no mention is made of burial places. Regarding James, he is identified in the book as the son of Rutherford Wooldridge. It says he was born KY ca. 1838, d. ca. 1880 , md. Elizabeth ---(bn. NC ca. 1841). He was with his father in 1850 Randolph Co., AR census and, as you noted, with Charles and Jane in the 1860 Oregon Co., MO census. James and wife, Elizabeth, were with their children, Sarah and Noah, in the 1870 Fulton Co., AR census. By 1880, James had died and Elizabeth had remarried.
