    1. [MO-OREGON-HISTORY] genealogy scam is back
    2. Lanita Sconce Miller
    3. Hi Everyone: The old genealogy scam is back. www.genseekers.com Behind the password protection are links to the free genealogy on-line. There is no content of their own. In order to get the "5-day free trial" you have to surrender a credit card or bank account number. You have to cancel within 5 days or you get dinged. Guess what? The cancellation e-mail bounces. Does this surprise you? One person who recently fell for the come-on had his/her account dinged not once, but twice. It is time to remind folks on your state and county mailing lists about these scoundrels. It has been a couple of years since we have mentioned this. Permission is granted to pass this on.

    1. [MO-OREGON-HISTORY] Help
    2. Can someone help me with a problem? I need the birth and death dates of Susan (Smith) Butts, wife of James H. Butts (1870-1949). I have been told she is buried at Freeman Cemetery near Fremont, Missouri. Is her husband buried in the same cemetery? She is the daughter of Reuben Smith (1840-1918)> I believe he is buried in Abram Cemetery, location unknown. I do appreciate any help I can get. Many years ago, in a little town named Brawley (at first) then changed to New Liberty, Oregon County, Missouri, my ancestors had a little general store. The school there was named the Butts School, later changed to New Liberty School and there was a Butts Spring. Their names were Eli Butts (1821-1894) and his wife, Martha (1819-1900). If any of this sounds familair to anyone I would be ever so happy to exchange information with you. Tess Kurtz Tall Timber talltmbr@positech.net

    3. Hi Nancy Edward/Edwin (I am now unsure which it really was) was born 1832. My grandfather Alanson W. was born 16 May 1834. I only know that documents show both brothers born in NY State and none list names of parents. Hope you have an ace up your sleeve...cause these roots are really tangled ;-) Gena ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nancy" <lacywinston@earthlink.net> To: "Regena Lally" <jrl91@worldnet.att.net> Cc: <MO-OREGON-HISTORY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, February 20, 2003 7:28 AM Subject: Re: [MO-OREGON-HISTORY] Re new topic > Gena, > > When were your GGranfather and his brother born? > > > N > > Regena Lally wrote: > > > > My one biggest obststicle.....where in NY State my great grandfather Alanson W. Barnes and his brother Edward/Edwin Barnes were born. This rates right up next to who their parents were, but for some reason the location means more to me...it is really bugging me that I can not find out where they are from. > > > > Gena Gates Lally > > > > ==== MO-OREGON-HISTORY Mailing List ==== > > http://www.oregoncountyhistory.net/ > >
