Yes Prudence's maiden name is definitely a BRICK WALL or what was that new name we're calling 'brick walls'. Whatever it is, she is that! Ann > Was it Prudence Jobe that you could not find? Was it her that you have > a brick wall? >
Very possible as I research ALL Jobe lines! I do have some there - though not my direct line. My own Jobe line starts in the Chester Co.,PA/Cecil Co., MD area and then goes to Sheandoah Co., VA, and then to Knox Co., TN, Barren Co., KY, Jackson Co., TN and finally 1810 East Concordia Parish, LA and then showing up what is today Oregon Co., MO by early 1820's. Okay Lanita - Here goes - I have several "Brick Walls" - you say, ah, well, Jeanette, you've been doing this too long, 34 years is too long to do genealogy - Ha. It is like an ice cream cone that you can't resist.....Only difference is--it is never ending. Here are my Brick Walls: The name of the parents of Ellis Campbell, who was born in Va., was in Jackson Co., Ala in the early 1830's - Was in Ripley Co., MO on the 1840 census, was in Shannon Co by 1850 and never moved - the line moved. WHO were his parents?? I even gave him a beautiful large granite tombstone and he still will not give me the names of his parents. Ha. All the other people working on him, cannot find them either, so I don't feel tooo bad.... Also - Anyone that is a descendant of John Robert Priest who was killed in Gratiot Street Prison in St. Louis as a prisoner of the Civil War. John Robert(normally called Robert) was born in TN in 1825 -I found him on the Johnson Co., IL census of 1850 - then He & his wife and children are found on the 1860 Madison Co., MO census in Polk Tnshp, his wifes name was Elizabeth_____? His children were : Leatha born Oct-Nov 1849, md. John Henry Spain in Madison Co; Sarah Elizabeth born Mar 1851, md Daniel Gube Short; Mary Melissa born 5 May 1855(My gr grandma),. md Simeon Walker Henson ; Margaret Marinda born 1857, md John Gibbs Vance; Greenberry born Jan 1860,md. Ida Henry then Harlee Griffin. I would like to communicate with any descendant of this family. And that is enough for now, altho I have a lot more to ask about. Thank you ever so much for asking......Jeanette Henson McClure. e: >Okay, gang.. I know that there is a war going on, and many have loved ones >over there that they are worried about.. Okay, gang.. I know that there is a war going on, and many have loved ones over there that they are worried about.. [I know I do!!] but, are you going to let the thugs that crashed into our world trade center buildings, and the bullies that supported them, take our way of life away from us?? If you are refraining from genealogy, for this reason, THAT is EXACTLY what you are allowing them to do. It's time that we pray for our soldiers and leaders of our country, and keep tabs on the war. YES.. ABSOLUTELY.. but, let's not refrain from our way of life, including genealogy.. if we do, they have won that part of the war! Let's not allow them to take away our way of life that our men and women are fighting for?????? If you do not support the war, then you don't have an excuse for not posting! We are not here to debate that issue, we are here to research and support each other. We have a proud heritage and we have a freedom that the Iraqi people do not have.. while we are praying, let's continue our genealogy research or the things we love to do....our way of life.. Our own Carolyn Boone sent this information to me, and I found it highly helpful. Go to: http://www.state.sc.us/scdah/ This is for the SC Archives, and you will learn that there are things there that are not at the National Archives. Mark Dethrow, I have already submitted a request to get the info we need on Amos JUSTICE, and his service in the Revolutionary War. Hope this helps someone! Lanita
Gena, Thanks for the advice.. will check again.. its taken 4 days for us to have the internet working on this. Pat, no, I have a new Emac, MacIntosh, don't have windows. So much faster than my old one, that it's not funny. Lanita
Hi All, Among my latest accomplishments, is a new computer. It does not have my address book from old computer, and until I can figure out if I am going to be able to transport my old address book unto the new computer, looks like I'm starting from scratch. So, I would appreciate it if you would reply to me so that I can add your name and address to new book.. I know, I know.. this is not genealogy, but would appreciate your tolerance on this. Thanks heaps! Lanita
Okay, you guys... it's time to confess!! What are you working on, to make this list so quiet??? I am doing the DAR stuff for 4 different families, and have put 2 other DAR possibles on hold... Is anyone on this list by chance in PA? Lanita
