    3. Dear Friends, I would like to express to all of you my sincere gratitude for the many kind words of condolences in the death of my mother. It meant a lot to me and I want you to know that I was moved and uplifted. It is in times like these that the, seemingly, simple things in life can be so meaningful. 2. List members Andrew, Liz and Patricia, I appreciated very much the information you have shared. I guess you could say America Piercefield Wheeler was the cause of my very first interest in family history. I became intrigued each time my father would mention his Aunt America. What an unusual name and how did such a peron become part of our family? were questions for which I wanted to find answers. Thank you all! Dana Johnson

My McWilliams family history: He and brothers James and John (b 1868) left AR in 1880, camped at Caddo Lake, TX/LA border. They were attacked by unknown individuals. James apparently was killed and George and John were rescued by my gg-grandfather, Hillen PUTMAN and taken to Cherokee/Smith Cos, TX, where George m Martha PUTMAN. 3. Dana, I checked the Oregon Co. Census from 1850-1880, 1900, and there are no PIERCEFIELDs mentioned. I checked the rootsweb, and found that someone had posted that a Lottie PIERCEFIELD mar. Wilson C. FELKINS, and died in Jan. 1881 in Oregon Co. You might email them at: jameshcarroll@comcast.net Hope this helps, Lanita Sconce Miller Wichita, KS For information on my families, check out my new website: www.lanitasloft.com My ancestors must be in a witness protection program!!

    1. [MO-OREGON-HISTORY] Wheeler and Piercefield
    2. Hello List, Jasper Daniel Wheeler married America Isabelle Piercefield on 2-25-1894. I am searching for ANY information about America. On MO census records, I've seen her born in Missouri, Illinois and simply United States. Her date of birth has been given as 5-8-1873, 7-8-1873 and May 1872. According to the Oregon County cemetery book, she died on 11-3-1971 and is buried (as is her husband) in Garfield Cemetery. (1) I have no other information about America. Who were her parents? Were there other Piercefield families in Oregon County? Did she have any siblings? (2) Jasper and America had 9 children; they were: Dorothy, Mayme, Roy, Ruth, Edna Mae, James Oscar, Ernest, Bertha D. and Pauline. I have very little information about these children. I need help to learn to whom each married, when/where, and the children born to these unions. I will be grateful for any and all help with this family. My e-mail is: djohnson973@comcast.net Thank you! Dana Johnson

    3. Jeanette, I gave my gggrandfather a Confederate Stone, and he wouldn't tell me who his GRANDMOTHER was, nor where his father was buried!! The NERVE!!! :>) I am curious about your John Robert PRIEST though.. was he Union or Confederate? If he was Union, I think I can find where he is buried, if you don't know.. Those ROLL OF HONOR books at the library would tell us that.
