    3. Claudia, I think handwriting characteristics are inherited. My handwriting at times looks like either my mother's or my aunt's. At times, I can see my mother's handwriting like my grandpa Lee's [her father]. A few days ago, my dear son was grumbling about his socks and underwear not being folded up and put away like they normally are. He still lives at home, and it suits both of us very well. His mother died around 20 years ago, and perhaps we remain closer than some parents/children do. I said "maybe you don't realise how lucky you are to have someone do that for you." And he replied "maybe you don't realise how lucky you are to have a famous designer living with you." Well, he's right. Sort of like those times when you grumble at them and say something like "I don't know why I bother", and they come right back with "because you love me." What can you say? Anyway, there are some people who say we descend, on my mother's Holland side, from the Plantagenets. And here I was, at the time, reading about Eleanor of Aquitaine (who married first Louis II of France, then divorced him and married Henry II, the first English Plantagenet king). It was a notoriously dysfunctional family, by any day's standards. After a bitter dispute and long absence, Henry welcomes his son Richard back into the fold, and at an elaborate ceremony proclaiming the son his heir and crowning him king (in waiting), Henry personally serves Richard at table. He reminds the newly-crowned heir "it isn't every day a prince gets served by a king". And Richard comes right back with "and it isn't every day a king gets served by a duke!" [Referring to his father's less-than-close royal connections.] You don't need to be psychic to feel the genes coursing down through the centuries! Now, this scullery-maid is getting back to the kitchen. Cheers, Ron

    2. Claudia, what a great and thought-provoking question about the handwriting! I have always noticed how similar my writing is to my two sisters and we are far enough apart that we were not taught by the same teacher or even same schools. I have also noticed close similarity in my mother's handwriting and her two younger sisters. This is intriguing! Marilynn Parrott Brown

    3. Question for the list. Does anyone know if a handwriting is passed down thru generations. Years ago, before genealogy, I was looking at the Declaration of Independence and there was James Wilsons, signature . My fathers signature , at least the Wilson portion, was exactly the same. every characteristic. I have researced it some but can not find any connection. You psychics, please tell me if I am on the right track!!!!! or do I have to hold out for documentation. Claudia J.Williams

    3. LORENZO DOW was a famous Methodist Preacher, in the early 1800's Circuit Preacher. Quite a character from what I have read. I Put Lorenzo Dow in the search engine, google.com I think and found the whole story . Quite and interesting read. Especially when he escaped one audience in Indianapolis by jumping out a window. LOL. He was so well loved over 200,000 babies were named after him. Claudia J.Williams

    3. Max, How's this!! My psychic visions tells me that we are ALL direct descendants from every King, Queen, President, Military hero, and well known person known to mankind. Our ancestors were known to have saved the world from evil, pestilence, and other destruction. They were rich, poor, weak, strong, had constant run ins with the law, and never got into trouble. Was hung, shot, starved to death, or ate until they were stuffed pigs and waddled out into the street only to be hit by a stagecoach! They fought in every war, received every metal known to be earned, and were Quakers and never lifted a gun.. My psychic visions alerts me that all census and every other forms of documentation that contradicts my visions must be an evil plan to discredit me and must be an instrument from the devil himself or at the very least, sent by Martians! 3. Talk about a chance to have some fun. I am also psychic and I see at the moment that in her (psychic lady that thinks she is direct descendant of Daniel Boone) line, they were in fact directly related to old Daniel himself but the family decided to not ever claim it and erased their names from the records. Yep, we have found the smudge spots on the original documents that is right here in my possession. That proves it. From one psychic to another. 3. Well as any good psychic would tell you that their interpretation may not be exact. I guess she forgot that part. I believe she must be related to my cousin Mary L, who does not do family research but is the first to tell you something is not true or it was like this.... She even demanded that I not bring any of my family research hog wash, as she called it, to another family reunion. I guess she did not like some of my documented facts to contradict hers, I know for a fact ones. I will say this has put a strain of our family ties with several of our cousins. I am setting out now to prove her wrong on several stated so called facts. One day I will thank you for giving me the added determination when I get down. Sharon Duke Bettis

    3. Hi I must share this "family research happening" with you all. I have spent 40 years researching and proving an elusive Boone line back to Joseph Boon, Sr. (his spelling) who was Daniel Boone's uncle. Everything is documented. Have provided and shared all my proof and information with the family, including every generation's participation in the Rev. War, War of 1812, Civil War, etc. I have found all sorts of interesting pictures, census records, bible records, newspaper articles, etc. including the actual war records from the NA I have a sister-in-law who claims to be psychic. She has told me that she KNOWS her family is a direct descendant of Daniel Boone and has told that information for years. She has suggested to me that we need to find someone who KNOWS what they are doing to find the truth that she and her family are DIRECT descendants of old Daniel. I have entered my Boone research to the DAR and SAR recently. I am hoping to have the ok for my husband and son-SAR and my daughter-DAR soon. hOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO DEAL WITH A PERSON LIKE HER!!!!!!!!!!!! CAROLYN TAYLOR BOONE

    3. Hi Listers...I think I am back!!!! I am retiring again! Oh Happy Dayyyy! I am looking for a site that I know is out there somewhere. It is a surname site that shows the progress of surnames across this country as families moved from east coast westward. I believe they were shown in the same context as Federal Census were done, every 10 years. Anyone know the one I speak of? Any help appreciated Thank you and it feels so good to do research once again! Gena Gates Lally Sun City AZ....a beautiful cloudy cool evening!

So, share your thoughts and experiences....... When confronted with relatives who are convinced that they 'know' a fact when they are basing a story on legend, and argues against your documentation that proves otherwise, how do you convince them that the legend that they have been taught from childhood, is wrong? Or do you try? AND....When do you say 'ENOUGH"!! when their minds won't be changed? Lanita My family coat of arms ties at the back... is that normal?

    3. Wahoo! Love your coat of arms Lanita. I had the same problem with my Gates line. Family absolutely, positively believed they were from Gatewood MO. It took a lot of research and copies of records (from Lawrence Co MO) and and a few census records from Ripley Co to prove otherwise...NOW they believe every word I tell them ;-) To my knowledge only 1 Gates family was ever found in Ripley Co census (they did not even stay till the next census) and it was not our line!
