    3. Hello Pat, Here are my Gilmore details. I haven't pursued this line much because I am descended from Calvin Wayne McKinney through his marriage to Roena (Rowena) Gilmore. I'll snip the McKinney children from this list to save space. All the best, Ron (1) 1 John "Conkey" Gilmore ---------------------------------------- Spouse: Mary Isaacs Children: Wilburn I. Roena (1818-1905) (2) 1.1 Wilburn I. Gilmore ---------------------------------------- Wilburn and Hazy moved to Texas County, Missouri and settled about three or four miles southeast of Houston. They had twelve children. From Gabe Nichols on Gilmore Genforum, 25 Mar 2000: Am researching Wilburn I. Gilmore of Texas County, Missouri. Married to Keziah "Hazy" McKinney. They had twelve children: Caswell, John, James, Narcissus, Mary M., Amelia "Milly", Sarah, Serena, Elijah, Fountain L., William or Wilburn, and Frances Rosa. I have a lot of info on this family. I know of at least 17 people working on the thousands of descendants of these Gilmores. Would always be eager to correspond with more! Spouse: Keziah Elizabeth (Hazy) McKinney Birth Date: 16 Sep 1812 Birth Place: Campbell County, Tennessee Death Place: Houston, Texas County, Missouri Father: James William McKinney (1790-1873) Mother: Sarah Gouge Marr Date: 25 Dec 1828 Marr Place: Cole County, Missouri Children: Caswell (1830-1904) Narcissa (1834-) Mary M. (2) 1.2 Roena Gilmore ---------------------------------------- Birth Date: 1818 Birth Place: Cole County, Missouri Death Date: 16 Apr 1905 Burial Date: 17 Apr 1905 Burial Place: Ozark Cemetery, Texas County, Missouri Roena (also spelled Rowena) was part Indian. Gilmores owned land in Cole County, Missouri, between 1837 and 1841; on the land record are John Gilmore, Wilbur Gilmore, William Gilmore. See death notice PDF file from 20 April 1905 issue of Houston Herald in \genealogy\mckinneys directory (courtesy of Wilma McKinney, 28 Sep 2004). Spouse: Calvin Wayne McKinney Birth Date: 15 Sep 1816 Birth Place: Campbell County, Tennessee Death Date: abt 1861 Death Place: Cass, Texas County, Missouri Father: James William McKinney (1790-1873) Mother: Sarah Gouge The last of James and Sarah's children born in Tennessee. He married Rowena Gilmore in Cole County, Missouri, and moved to Texas County, Missouri, with other members of the McKinney family. Family tradition says that Rowena was at least part Indian, perhaps full-blooded. Calvin and Rowena had 9 children. Calvin is thought to be buried in the Gilmore Cemetery about one mile northwest of Yukon, but no grave marker with their name exists there. <details of McKinney children deleted to save space>

    3. Hello Kara (and the rest), My earliest McKinney on record is Henry, born around 1764 probably in North Carolina, but we have been unable to find much about his early life. He died in Cole County, Missouri in 1836. His children were mostly born in Campbell County, Tennessee, and the family settled in Cole County and then moved on to Texas County, MO. I am descended from his son James William, then Calvin Wayne, then James Wayne, whose daughter Leone Almira was my maternal grandmother. James Wayne and wife Sarah Elizabeth J. Cook (caughter of Daniel Cook and Clarinda Elmira Pratt) are both buried in the old Eminence Cemetery in Shannon County. Do we have a connection? All the best, Ron > I have McKinney's in my line. Where do yours come from?? > Kara

    3. Hello everone, I'm here in Australia .... a long way from the scene of Katrina's destructive forces. We are getting a great deal of news coverage about the tragedy here, both in the newspapers and on all TV channels, and of course those of us with a closer connections to the area or country are spending a good deal of time on the internet. Its appalling! Ron Burnett in Melbourne, Australia (who calls Shannon County home). Burnett/Wilson/Shoemate, Holland/Swafford/Bates/McKinney/Cook/Gilmore
