    3. Good Evening, Missouri Secretary of State started a volunteer transcription program for post-1910 Missouri death records earlier this year. I transcribed 5,000 [average for each volunteer which is something to consider should you wish to volunteer] records for 1918 within these parameters: CLARK, Clara through DAVIS, Sarah A. The records contain only names, date of death, location of death [city or county] and death certificate number. If you would like the information let me know using same guidelines Lanita set out for your requests to her regarding 1940 records. Here is a link to the FAQ's for this project which includes information and links to VOLUNTEER: http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/birthdeath/deathFAQ.asp N

    3. Volunteers are transcribing the death records for the MO Archives for all years. I volunteered to do a project, and they sent me the 1940 N, O, and parts of P records ONLY. The others are not available yet. One of the reasons for all of this, is so that all will be put online by the MO State Archives. Until then, they are not available unless you know the county, and month and year that a person died. Hope this helps! Lanita I think my family tree is a few branches short of full bloom.

    3. Lanita, Now that I think of it, I transcribed about 40 pages for that project, too, way back in the early spring. I felt very responsible for transcribing accurately, went back and checked and spent a lot of time with it (I thought.) I was so glad when my part was finished; felt sure that others had done their part with ease. Then, they asked if I could do more, as others were not finished with their portion. I said no, but was happy to have done my part satisfactorily. 3. Please note that I have just completed transcribing the 1940 death records for "N", "O" and the 1st part of "P"s, for the Missouri State Archives. There were some mentions of the area counties on the list, so if you need to know the death certificate # and the month in which yours died, please let me know.. NO, I don't have any further info. But, if you want to send for the records and need the record #, for any that might be on this list, and yours is on this list, I can give you that death record # as well as the month in 1940 they died. Hope this helps! Lanita I think my family tree is a few branches short of full bloom.

    3. Chris, thanks for the message and information. John Monroe Cox was my great grandfathers brother. Admittedly, another person furnished me the records for the family and some dates, etc. may be suspect. According to what I have my great grandfather William Cox was the oldest son of William Cox (Qualls) which they show as adopted on my records. They show John M. (your ancestor) as the third child. Does this match your charts. Obviously, I am interested in any information that hooks all that up and would be glad to share what I have, even though it is not my research. Thanks again.
