Hi Dewey, I come from Susan and James M. Smith from Ga. and TN then on to Ark. One daughter Mary Smith married my GG grandpa Samuel Sammons. Mary's sister Tennessee Smith married an Uncle James Sammons both girls married Robert Stout after the Sammons brothers died. Of course at different times. There is a Littleton Smith who is James Middleton Smiths Brother and I'm always looking for more information on them. James b. 1809 Ga. Middleton b. 1814 Ga. Hi Dewey, Another researcher, descendant of Artemincia, gave Peter's death date as 1865 but I don't know the source. That is probably right because I have found no trace of him since. Youngest daughter, Nancy, who was blind, was living with her father in 1860 Census in Oregon Co., but she is with Peter, Jr., and family in the 1870 in Randolph, AR. By 1880, Peter Jr. and family were back in Oregon Co. Indeed interesting... I'll look into it further. It seems that Bourbon County, Kentucky as well as a few other spots were prime movers into the Oregon County area. Other places that seem to crop up for me at least: Quincy and Cook County, Illinois Eastern Tennessee, between Nashville and Knoxville North Carolina around the Asheville area South Carolina Pendleton District Central Ohio While I realize that these are general areas, they do seem to occur quite often in my various family lines. More so that I would attribute to randomness. I would be interested in seeing where other folks moved in from in the 1830-1870 time period. We need a marriage lookup for Elvie Wesley Owen 'Ted' Hackworth between 1926-1930. On the 1930 census, his wife's name looks like Golar M. They are both 19 - so the marriage probably took place in 1928 or 1929. Thanks for any help. Ann
Lanita-- My Medleys came to Shannon County from Jefferson County, Mo. Daniel Medley was b. 1813 KY, and believe his father was James Medley who was born in N.C. in 1760. I am interested in finding information on the parents of Catherine Null who was the second wife of Daniel. They were married in Jefferson County, Mo. July 26, 1849, but were in Shannon County in the 1870 census. I think they died in Dent county, MO. For him, I don't have a son named Ted WEsley Hackworth, but I do have a son named Elby Wesley Hackworth (1911-1959). Is Elby actually Ted? Todd, I think my Bearden line came into Oregon Co., MO in the late 1880s. Julia Ann Bearden had been widowed; she was married in Illinois to a Bearden from Tennessee (if I remember right). Julia had at least three children that she brought with her. Her daughter Mary Jane married my great grandfather. Their daughter Julia Ann Shurron married my grandfather John Clay Reilly (John was born in 1879). Let me do a little more looking. I am in the process of switching things onto a new computer and am not sure if this info is on the computer or in a paper file. I'll get back too you in the next few days.
