Well, I'm taking this time to break the rules again. We remember those who are in the path of Rita. If anyone is interested in the following, please contact me. I have a picture of Lillie, Bettie, and John P. Nettles in their older years, when the two sisters visited their brother John in Tryon Oklahoma. These are three of Fernando Nettles children. There is also an interesting story passed down about how Francis M. Nettles married Mrs. Saddler (his second wife), as told by Henry Sadler at our family reunion in 1998. Sadly, Henry is no longer with us but I taped his story and am in the process of putting it on a CD and plan to transcribe it.. The Sara Nettles who married James Johnson also raised some of Robert K. Underwood's children when his wife died. One of these children was Martha Bell Underwood. If I can help you let me know. I appreciate any new information or pictures you can share. Catherine, I checked ancestry.com all over the area for Haywood M. or M. Haywood.. all of AR and MO, and MS.... the HMBG is Haywood M. because it's the only one that appears ANYWHERE with the right age timeline to be able to be in the Civil War and buy land later. Lanita

Well thanks girl! I have checked with Ed's pages but didn't know about Desmond Walls Allen's website. By the way, I don't quite understand the names in the McMellon family. I presume you think HMBG is Haywood M. ? I know my great grandfather, Marley McMillen was sometimes enumerated as McMellon. According to the Shannon County History Book, Roberta's husband's name was Ernest. They had a son by the name of Gordon who married Doris Sutton. The New Eminence Cem. lists Ernest C. Medley Aug 1907 to Feb 1968. It lists Roberta L. Medley as being born in Dec. 1906. She died Jan. 1, 1999. I have ordered records several times from NARA but always for union soldiers and always when I knew a pension had been applied for and received (through Ancestry). Now I have encountered Haywood M.
