Jenny: I don't know if there's a connection or not. I can't find a connection with the North Carolina KILLETT'S to my Lawrence, Randolph and Sharp Co's in AR and Oregon Co, MO KELLETT's. I know they are connected somehow. I have a Will on William KILLETT, who died in 1785 in Wayne Co, NC. In this Will, William KILLETT had a Grandson William FAGAN, FAGIN. How far back does your FAGAN's go, do you know? Josiah JB Kellett Mt. Juliet, TN

Just came across this url for area churches: http://www.bakerealty.com/churches.htm Hope this helps! Lanita I think my family tree is a few branches short of full bloom.
In 1877 Mariah DAVIS BUSTER WRENFROW PRINCE fourth married Francis Marion HIGGINBOTHAM, in Randolph County, AR.4,6 Born in Sep 1831 in Wayne Co., Illinois. Francis Marion died on 6 Feb 1909 in Ravenden Springs, Randolph Co., AR. Let me know if they connect. Mariah DAVIS B. W. P. H. was my gggrandmother. Lanita
There are definitely researchers here on the HIGGINBOTHAM line... tell us about yours, and let's see where we connect! Lanita I'm always late. My ancestors arrived on the JUNE flower.
The FAGANs that were in Oregon Co., was Wm. B., this son of John and Elizabeth... > 1870 Etowah Co., AL > > FAGAN > John, age 60, NC > Elizabeth, age 55, SC > Wm. B., age 22, GA > Silas W., age 21, GA > Dorenea, age 19, GA > Martha, age 17, GA > Lonis, age 14, GA > Sarah, age 13, GA Daughter, Martha, mar. Isaac Tyner WIGGS . They had 3 children John Washington; Mary Elizabeth, and Amanda Janetta She can find no account of Martha's death, or burial, other than Randolph County, AR. We know that there is a WIGGS girl at King Cemetery, but are looking for the others. > Josiah tells me that: The North Carolina KILLETT's, William KILLETT that died in 1785 had a Grandson William FAGAN, FAGIN. So maybe, there is a connection.... Lanita

Well; I am back on the list after over a year off. No one else was ever researching my families and I am hoping that has changed! My main families of interest are: Hankins, Elledge, Briggs, Muse, Kyle, and Higginbotham. If any of the Roberts in the county tie to the brothers from Tennesse that came to MO, Jake who went to Taney, later Christian Co. and William who went to Texas Co., then we are related. My great-grandad may have ridden with the James Gang, William Moses Hankins, who married Martha Ellen "Mattie" Elledge, in West Plains, in 1887. He new the back way out of Merramac Caverns, and other things about the gang. Now, there are several Elledge and Hankins folks that married other Howell Co. family members. Mybe some of you connect to these folks. William J. "Jess" Raymond married Alice Hankins. Ellen Ball Dixon married Joe Hankins. Lewis Renfro married Mary Jane Hankins. Earl Galloway married Minnie Hankins. I think he may connect to James Richard Galloway and wife Sarah Alice, but have no proof. Nov Galloway, daughter of James Richard and Sarah Alice G. married George Dixon Elledge. THis same George was born in Howell Co. and I wonder if he was named for the Dixon folks. Then there were several Howell Co. folks that married into my Elledge family. These families are: Willis, Spradlin, Woodworth, McCall, Barton, Watson, and Galloway again. Hopefully some of you can connect with these folks this time around. Most of the Elledge folks moved on to OK and TX. Only one Hankins family stayed in Koshkonong, Oregon Co., nearby. The others may have just dropped off the face of the earth. I am interested in any and all connections. I have information to share too! Thanks in advance! Jerry Johnston Scottsdale, AZ

The probate is at the Alton Courthouse, no, it's not online. The only way is if some kind soul who is a resident of the area will do it for you. You might send some $$ to the Oregon Co. Genealogical Society to see if a volunteer would do it for you. I might also suggest that if you have several ancestors in the Oregon Co. area, that If you haven't already joined the Gen. Society, you might want to consider doing that. It's a great bunch!! Love, Lanita I trace my family history so I will know who to blame.
Marie, You need to get a copy of what's in Alexander ROBERTS probate packet.... Located at the Probate Office at the Alton Courthouse is the packet #1370. Listed is: Roberts, Alexander Admin: John Thomas Filed: 10 Jun 1848 1850 Oregon Co., MO Census THOMAS, John Sr., age 50, MO THOMAS, Matilda, age 30, MO THOMAS, Ephraim, age 17, MO THOMAS, John L., age 15, MO THOMAS, Emily, age 12, MO THOMAS, William, age 6, MO THOMAS, Alexander, age 4, MO THOMAS, Abosolum, age 2, MO ROBERTS, Simpson, age 10, MO ROBERTS, Susan, age 8, MO There are ROBERTS who would be the age of Susan's siblings in Oregon Co., as well as Ripley Co., MO in 1850 census. Alexander is listed in 1840 in Ripley Co. [Oregon Co. wasn't formed until 1845, before that it was Ripley]. There is a ton of stuff on the ROBERTS family in the county History Book. Rebecca ROBERTS, mar. Simpson COUCH, the founder and patriarch of the Couch Community and all the Oregon Co. COUCHs trace their heritage back to Simpson and Rebecca. Let me know how i can help! Lanita
To the List, We have a new researcher who isn't as experienced with her computer yet, or with researching. Her name is Geneieve GUTHARY, aka Jenny. Jenny, tell the list about your WIGGS and FAGANs.. Since they were found in Randolph Co., AR and Oregon Co., MO, I KNOW there are those who might be able to help or maybe you might connect with new cousins! Lanita
Todd, I will see if I can find the information about the Bearden that was in Oklahoma. But, they went back to Oregon Co. when they got sued by the rest of the family. Tried to keep insurance money that didn't belong to them. If that hadn't happened I would have never found out anything about my Dad, nor would I be able to prove that my Dad's brother was tied into the family. Yeah, for the Bearden family. I don't even remember right now what the name was, but he was my great grandmother Mary Jane Bearden Shurron's brother. He and Mary were both born in Illinois and their mother's maiden name was Roach. She (their mother) was widowed in Illinois and moved to Oregon county, MO where she married someone by the name of Kyle. I am telling this by memory, so I have more, but just don't remember it all right now. Todd, Yes, the Oregon County marriage books are at the courthouse. There is confusion because the RED BOOK, the info book that ancestry.com puts out with info on all the courthouses in all the counties and states, [aka the Researcher's Bible], has an error, of sorts regarding the Oregon County records. The book states that the courthouse burned during the civil war, so the older records are not available.... half right, half wrong... yes, the courthouse burned by those dressed as Union Soldiers in 1860 something [by cousins of the Younger boys who ran with Jesse and Frank JAMES], BUT, thanks to the foresight of county officials like Majr. NORMAN, the records were protected in a nearby cave at the very start of the war. Officials took an 11 year old boy with them to know where the records were located in the cave on the NORMAN farm, [just in case the adults didn't live through the war], so the older records for Oregon Co. [started 1845] are protected. It is awesome to find 1845 marriage records, probate, etc., when other counties are not as fortunate. I personally have done it! BTW: Major NORMAN and many officials DID live through the war, but researchers are indebted to these officials because the courthouse burned 3 times in its history [I think that's right... I relaying this by memory]. The older records are there, don't ask me how they were protected the other 2 times the courthouse burned.... The area was right on the Mason/Dixon line, so their wisdom in protecting those records shows the ingenuity of those men to which today researchers will always be indebted! Lanita I'm always late. My ancestors arrived on the JUNE flower.

Earl, do you have a Huston Lawson in your line? Huston married Mary Simmons in 1881 in Clay County, Arkansas. They were married for only a few years, but they had at least one child, a daughter. The story is that the daughter drowned, but I don't know when. Thanks.
