Adruain, regarding your original question about who the women and children might have been, you might want to check with Lou Wehmer. He is a diligent, serious researcher of the war in SEMO, is tied into the Pilot Knob Ft. Davidson Museum people, and is very knowledgeable regarding what research materials are there. He may also have some ideas regarding other avenues of research on this issue. This is the email I have for him--wehmer@socket.net--haven't used it for a while so I don't know if it's still good. Regarding the year of the order in question, it would have been 1865. The 7th Kansas Cavalry and the 17th Illinois Cavalry garrisoned Pilot Knob and Patterson in the spring of 1865, taking the place of the 3rd MSM Cavalry, which had moved out to western Missouri.--Kirby ----- Original Message ----- From: Cato324@wmconnect.com To: MO-CW-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [MO-CW] Burn Order Date: Sun, 30 Oct 2005 07:40:32 EST > > Kirby > Sorry for the delay, my source is in Ireland, she > hires this lady in Washington, for research. > Burn Order: > NARA Record grp 110 > M-416 Union Provost Marshall's file of Papers > relating to Two or more Civilians > Roll # 59 Item # 16787 > Ivan told me he had a copy of this burn order and > mentions it in his book "Lost Family Lost Cause" He > propmised me a copy but died before he got it to me. > > Adruain Cato > > > ==== MO-CW Mailing List ==== > To unsubscribe from this list, send ONLY the word UNSUBSCRIBE to > the utility address MO-CW-L-REQUEST@ROOTSWEB.COM If you are trying > to unsubscribe from the Digest list, use the same utility address > but change the -L- to a -D- > > ============================== > Search Family and Local Histories for stories about your family and the > areas they lived.
