Al, just be careful regarding any unsourced work you run across. It only takes a few seconds to drop in a footnote, and the failure to put one in should at least cause an eyebrow to raise. And any sourced work you run across, I would advise that you be ready to consult with any source mentioned to ascertain whether it can be found, and if so, it says what it is claimed to say. In my own writing I expect people to check my sources out, and try to frame my cites with that in mind. I also like to be fairly detailed in my sourcing to make it easy for other researchers that are so inclined to expand upon my research, which might end up helping me out in other work I do in the future.
