Does anyone know anything about the war in Northern MO? (My ancestors lived in Unionville, MO) I know there were very few battles there, but what sort of action was going on? Did they have to fear guerillas that far north? I am interested in how the war affected the families, what sort of things the local militia were doing, and any other sort of information like that. Also, when the soldiers did enlist in the regular army, infantry, were they shipped by train south, or would they have marched?
