Glenn, To my knowledge, there is no such roster of the men "General Crabtree" recruited in south Cole and north Miller County during 1861 and 1862. At least in several expeditions Crabtree (he just called himself "General"--he was not one) carried his recruits to south-central Missouri and evidently turned them over to Confederate Colonels William O. Coleman and Thomas R. Freeman to help them fill up their regiments. Therefore, if you had an ancestor from those two counties or nearby who worked with Crabtree try looking in the rosters of Coleman and Freeman. I have had great difficulty finding biographical detail (especially prewar) on Crabtree, lending strength to the rumor that "Crabtree" is not his real name. Crabtree was killed about late September 1862 and buried in one of his hideout caves. Some of his regular cadre formed their own guerrilla band in that region in 1864. Hopefully, anyone you seek was not part of that bunch. If you are searching for a particular southern soldier try looking for his online military service record via the Missouri Secretary of State's Office website. Try that on Google.com or some other search engine. Bruce Nichols
