The Film from CO. G. 12 MO. Cav. from FHC Hunter, F. M. CO. G 12th MO Cavalry. Then Private this is one entry then Same thing but a bit more info. This says Shank's Regt. a muster roll for Jan& Feby. 1864 Enlisted Aug. 12 1862 Jackson Co. Col. Thompson next: last paid by whom: Maj. Lawrence to Aug. 31 1863 present. This is all that is there. My question, the massacre at Lone Jack hadn't occurred yet. that was not till Sept. 6 1863. But the Battle of Lone Jack was very soon to occur Aug. 15th & 16th 1862. If he had joined with a State Guard his name would not be on the 12th Cav muster roll as enlisting in it would it. I know this was early on a Hay's or Jackson County Cav. unit, are they the same one? I do so want my info right when we do the service. , But this info is so mixed up. One family member states the Brother joined the Union, I show him with F.M. in the 12th Cav. an other Brother all I have is Prices Army. So difficult to work with.
